critical role, episode 82
My dudes, they’re going to get out of the Happy Fun Ball and it’s going to be time to leave for Travelercon.
Explaining how the fortune teller in Beau's lore, the mage who turned Nott, the lady who cured Caleb, and the woman with the book in Molly's backstory was the same person who either timetravelled or saw all the possible timelines Doctor Strange style with Dunamancy and tried to bring the M9 together to save the world
Some times you watch Critical Role and you can just see this image appear in the corner of the screen by the expression on Matt’s face.
one of the reasons i like greek mythology because the greeks went “yes these are our gods. they’re very powerful and can not die and are incapable of any sort of critical thinking.”
they all look so fucking good
Our hearts are full of loving Marisha juice
im both
it’s all “accidental hand touch” this and “brief longing gaze” that, where’s my support at for “reaching up and fixing someone’s collar for them” crew??
the intimacy disguised as helpfulness! the lingering contact! the optional subdued “you look nice” as they stand too close!!
expand your pining vocabulary people
panic really does turn you into a complete fucking moron huh
to be clear, this is about timed missions in video games
Me: knows full well where each button on the control is, can press x without even looking for which one is it.
Quick time event: “PRESS THE X BUTTON”
Me: “OH GOD OH FUCK, THE WHAT??”
It always stresses me out when characters lie when there’s not really any need to, when being honest is actually probably the best way to go, and if the person the character is lying too figures it out, it’ll just be worse for that character.
So you can imagine how stressful it is watching these assholes on Critical Role! And in fact, i was probably the most stressed out when Beau started lying to the Plank King in the last episode.
But then I read someone point out how Beau has a higher deception than persuasion, which Marisha brings up in the episode after Matt makes her roll persuasion for the guards. After that, every time it looks like Matt may make Beau do a charisma check, Marisha has her lie, just a bit, instead of tell the honest truth.
And I think that’s a kinda cool in- and out-of-game choice. Out-of-game, it’s choosing a higher chance of something going bad if she fails versus a better chance of success.
In-game, it’s Beau thinking, I don’t think this stories good enough, needs a bit more oomph.
