So, I wasn't sure about posting this, because my drawing skills are truly mediocre, but I really just wanted to highlight a fanfic by @fangirleaconmigo that has me totally enthralled.

A Witcher Geralt/Jaskier fic that is so beautiful. In it, Geralt dreams of retiring to his vineyard and relaxing with his love, and it was so wholesome, I wanted to draw it.

I wish I was better at drawing (don't look at the lute too closely please), but practice makes perfect, so I'll keep drawing and posting despite it all.

And this art is so freakin sweet, the tilt of Geralt’s face, the vibes are so loving. It really captures the feeling of the relationship between them.

Here’s my progress on drawing Joey’s new IMDB profile pic. I feel like he briefly looked like a sad child perhaps related to Anne Hathaway. And at one point he looked like an entirely different ethnicity.(I didn’t post that one) But we are getting there.

I don’t really know how to draw stubble so let’s learn something new on this one. And my drawing looks like he’s looking to the side and not the camera anymore. Not sure how that happened.

If any artists have any advice I’ll happily take it. I’m learning from YouTube so I’ll take any and all advice.

It is looking awesome so far!!! I so admire you for working hard to improve a new skill, and for taking on a project like this in general- i minored in studio art but haven’t gotten myself to create anything for like a year😭

As for advice- I think his right eye looks a bit smaller/squintier than the left, which may be why it’s looking a bit off to you. On the photo the eyes are about the same, the irises covered by the same amount of lid, but the right is surrounded by more shadow.

I’d also say, don’t be scared to push the darks and lights! In the photo it’s darker around his eyes and the right side of his face, so I’d dry to add some more shadow there on your piece. The apples of his cheeks, the left side of his forehead, and the line/top of his nose are quite light in the photo, so you could lightly erase in those areas. The eraser was always my best friend, since it really helps make a smooth transition between shades.

Like someone else said in the comments, this is a hard photo because there are minimal shadows, so I’d try to lean into what you do have to give your drawing more definition and depth (lighten lips, darken scruff, and so on). But these are all small bits of advice, your drawing is already proportional, smooth, and clearly recognizable as Joey! It’s awesome, I can’t wait to see how it turns out 😁❤️

I’ve worked on it many many more hours and taken notes on your (and everyone’s) generous input and focused on those suggestions. Seriously thank you for taking the time, it’s hard to do this alone just using videos.

Obv it’s still a work in progress and I feel like I’ve got too much graphite on the page. And still needs tweaking on every feature, another layer on the hair, and stubble!

But I think I’m getting there.

I’ve been working on it for a few months and while the hands aren’t finished, and I may come back to it, this is my result right now. I’m happy with how much I learned from doing one portrait.

Thank you all for your advice and encouragement. And thank you to Joey’s face for inspiring me and being so lovely to stare at. 😌 My next one is Anya and Myanna.

Every year at Oxenfurt Academy, one of the top students studying to be a bard would mysteriously vanish. After their disappearance, all records of the student would be erased.

The truth is that long ago, the heads of Oxenfurt Academy made a pact to sacrifice the brightest new singers, transforming them into sirens, in exchange for the school's continued operation and success.

Jaskier, once a prodigious student at Oxenfurt, was intended to be one of these sacrifices. However, he was always too elusive. Later, when Jaskier began traveling with Geralt, the academy leaders didn't want to risk a witcher discovering their secret.

When word spread about the fallout between Geralt and Jaskier, the leaders of Oxenfurt saw their opportunity. They decided it was finally time for Jaskier to join the sirens.

A few months later, unexpectedly, Geralt came looking for his bard.

Many of you asked for me to wear the set so I did a photoshoot after work.

My mom helped me with the pictures, so she said I have to help her do grocery shopping

I'm actually so unwell because I'm really love Yen x Jaskier. And looking for fics has made me realize that not only do I want more protective Jaskier and Soft Yennefer in fics but I really need less Geralt x Jaskier undertones in fics and someone posted about this too on Tumblr but I can't find it now. But yeah, I feel like it's just so overused and so boring, and I very much disagree that Jaskier has chemistry with Geralt I do occasionally enjoy the OT3 stories with Geralt, Jaskier, and Yennefer but mostly I just want Jaskier and Yennefer and they are so hard to find.

I think mostly for me is that I don't really enjoy Geralt too much. There's rarely times when I'm truly interested in his story. I did really enjoy him in season 1 and kinda of 2.

I wrote a post S2 fic just the two of them.

And yes I do think most Yennskier fics either assume or eventually turn into Geraskefer, so if anyone has any other recs, do chime in! I think @limerental would be a good place to start for that as well.

Since TWN S1 dropped, people have argued on here nonstop about Jaskier..., is he tough, is he soft, is he sweet, is he feral, (and on and on)

Firstly, the most obvious answer is that people are many things at once. Obviously. These things are not mutually exclusive.

But also. Guys this is all extremely, wildly relative.

Think about it.

To Jaskier's terrifyingly powerful friends (Geralt can kill like ten people at once, Yen burns whole armies) he's just a little wet kitten. He's a precious little package to look after when times get scary.

But compared to other POETS? Other ACADEMICS? Other MINOR NOBLES? he is inSANE.

Imagine him teaching at Oxenfurt. The youths are like HOLY FUCK , this man has walked the entire continent. He has seen five hundred kinds of deadly monsters, and lived to tell. He's survived kidnappings, walked through war zones, he has mementos from like three different historical battles on his walls. His dearest friends (family, really) are people who are sung about in dark cottages like they are demons and world destroyers. HIS BABY NIECE IS LIKE *THE* WORLD DESTROYER TO SOME PEOPLE. He understands war strategy, every single aspect of every faction, and how to survive almost anything.

He would be so intimidating to them.

Then Geralt and Yen come to visit and squish his cheeks like look, it's our soft little baby, we need to check on him because he cannot fend for himself. I hope no one here has hurt his feelings, we have learned that he hates that so we no longer allow it.

And he's like...can I come on this mission?

And they're like idk it's so dangerous for you.

And the students are like ????????

Thought of this & made me laugh

To Oxenfurt & non-superhuman peoples he's Indiana Jones. He's an academic who enjoys that world but also has insane adventures that shape politics & the stories/fruits of are the basis for his career & has contacts everywhere.

To the Witchers & mages he's Short Round. Small & needs to be protected but surprisingly capable in a pinch & often calling them out on their stupid even if they don't always listen & going along w/ them anyway.
