me realising Steve getting called ‘tinkerbell’ and having fruit thrown at him is actually him getting gaybashed in the movie, me realising the guys that did that to him were members of the 107, me realising Steve risked his life to go and save their damn regiment anyway-
Captain America Civil War trailer :)
This has been on my mind for a long time…
Steve having a flashback to the past during a half of a second as The Winter Soldier turns. In that blink of an eye he can see Bucky as it was (as he remembers him), before The Winter Soldier looks at him with Bucky’s eyes. Steve is now in an impossible present; all the foundations of what he knows and what he feels, shattered.
And we know how it goes after that.
But also, from Bucky’s character point of view? How he is hidden in there below the surface, dormant because of the words but condemned to “wake up” and remember it all as if it was indeed him behind the wheel? I cannot. i just cannot.
In reality he’s still barely more than a child sent to war who deserves better, who deserves total recognition of his lack of agency, who deserves total recognition of his trauma,… who deserves Steve, too.
Thanks for coming to my stream of consciousness Ted Talk: This went really fast from my traumatizing head-canon to Bucky!Avenging, tbh.
Anyway, sorry for the heartbreak and for the quality… War!Bucky video source is horrible, but i needed it done.
that fast?
Hail Hydra
FUCK Hydra 😂
sending steve back in time sent the message that if you’re not happy with your life and stuck in the past, go to the past. it said peggy’s autonomy and future was up for grabs, and all the choices she made in canon could easily be erased. it said daniel “no girl is gonna trade in a red, white, and blue shield for an aluminum crutch” is disposable & interchangeable and yes, it’s true, no girl is going to pick him (a disabled man) over captain america
This is what I feel is so strange about how Marvel handles the very real relationship dynamics they set up themselves.
You see: I love Steggy. Do I love Steggy! They make an adorable couple. A strong couple. I'll happily watch ten films with the both of them galavanting through Marvel.
And goddamn did their break hurt. But it happens in war. People die and get horribly displaced.
And to watch Agent Carter slowly piece her heart together through it all and build a life she never would have chosen is inspiring. Her finding love again after years is inspiring. It shows strength and life after a devastating loss.
Because she loves Steve. And she mourned Steve. And she loves Daniel and can build a life with him. Because there is life after loss. Daniel lost, too, and like Peggy, lives a life he would not have chosen. Yet they can build a good life together after the loss of love for Peggy and health for Daniel.
You need not retcon that. It is a good story.
And for Steve to move on is also a good story. Because people resurfacing after so long happens too, after those who love them have had to build a life around their absence. Yes Peggy would be overjoyed to see Steve again but realistically they shared a kiss; she and Daniel have built a whole life and Steve would not begrudge her that life. He could retcon himself into a period of time before she met Daniel but when Peggy found that (out and she would), she'd take it as a betrayal. It's no good. She'd probably tell him to get his ass back to Bucky because as it stands, their story is not meant to be - Steve apparently was meant to strand in the future with Bucky. Go do what you are meant to do then, Steve Rogers. Steve and Peggy were both granted some time together to honour what they had already and Peggy told him as much then.
As for the disability angle - have they met Margaret Elizabeth Carter? The woman who fell for Steve Rogers, a skinny, asthmatic kid from Brooklyn with more decency and courage in his pinkie than any ablebodied men she ever met? She has no problem with disability, she seeks out people who have been marginalised and belittled, like her! She has a thing for disabled men, you plonkers! Of course she likes Daniel, he is as much the whole package as Steve! Does no one understand that?
Steve and Peggy are a great couple and I love them. But they're arguably a more interesting couple if they both move on. The fact that Marvel won't let them - that's weird. Steve made Peggy even more ready for a great love with Daniel. Peggy encouraged Steve and showed Steve that he's always been lovable, something he needs to hold onto after the serum. But isn't it just as romantic for Steve and Bucky to have been catapulted forwards in time to give them a chance to more openly live their love?
The seeds for these arcs are all there in canon - why make Steve a weaker person by making him unable to work with the hand life's dealt him? He has a second chance in Bucky, who uniquely understands him in a way even Peggy can't. He'll be fine.
It’s the truth to be fair…

Let’s remember that Bucky Barnes without Steve Rogers was the kid who befriended a small sickly boy looked down on and picked on by everyone else without caring what anyone thought.
Bucky Barnes without Steve Rogers was a smart, bright, likable young man who enjoyed going to dance halls and science fairs.
Bucky Barnes without Steve Rogers earned the respect, friendship, and loyalty of his soldiers to such an extent that when a stranger in spangly tights saves their lives only to ask them to follow him back into the fray, they agree because this guy’s nuts but he’s got Sarge’s seal of approval.
Bucky Barnes without Steve Rogers withstood years of unimaginable physical and psychological torture until his captors were finally forced to strip him of his memories and all sense of self in order to make him compliant, and even then had to phrase his missions as fights for the good of the world.
And then, Bucky Barnes, with no knowledge of Steve Rogers or himself, with no agency or moral compass, couldn’t be kept out of cryostasis for too long lest he regain the smallest sense of self and turn on his masters. Because even they knew that James Buchanan Barnes was the furthest thing from a bully, and feared the vengeance he would bring down on them if he realized what they were forcing him to do.
And this is just Bucky Barnes in the MCU, who’s had maybe a half hour of screen time and a handful of lines.
Yeah, the seeds of the Winter Soldier are in Bucky, insomuch as he is competent, loyal, fierce, a brilliant tactician, capable of doing the dirty work to save others the burden, and a bit ruthless when it comes to protecting innocents and those he loves. But isn’t it telling that even stripped of everything but these attributes and then turned to destruction and chaos he becomes, not a bully, but an asset of terrifying efficiency? The Winter Soldier is single-minded and brutal in carrying out his missions, but he is an effective soldier, not a bully.
James Buchanan Barnes is a hero, and nothing, not the absence of one man (even a man like Steve Rogers) or anything else, could change that.

Stucky was and still is the most epic romance and we'll never let go of our ship 😭😭😭😭🤧🤧🤧
Not until a few enthralling chapters later did Bucky realize what time it was. He’d been re-reading the same sentence and his eyes were starting to close. Checking his watch with bleary vision—it was 2am—he decided Tolkien could wait for tomorrow. He marked his place and set the book down on the table behind him. At the movement, the steady rise and fall of breath stuttered against his chest. “Stevie, wake up,” he murmured into disheveled, aurelian hair, trying gently to cajole him from sleep.
“I’ll fight ya—” Steve mumbled, half in a dream.
Gingerly scratching blunt nails down his spine through the fabric of his shirt, Bucky remarked, “I know ya will, punk. Get up. Your back’s gonna hurt tomorrow if you stay like this all night.”
Steve grumbled again; an unintelligible disagreement, then more clearly, ‘make me.’ So, Bucky did. With minimal effort, he had Steve scooped up to carry him to bed; one arm under his knees, the other encircling his waist. Cheeks were still flushed from the alcohol, the freckles on the bridge of his nose obscured by dusted rose. Steve laughed; like light and bells and crisp winter air—pressing his hot face into Bucky’s neck, his skinny arm around his shoulders.
Carefully set onto the bed, as soon as Steve was left to his own devices, he fell flat backwards against the mattress. Enough light from the hall shone in for Bucky to see the big, still-drunk grin on his face.
“Why’d ya have so much, huh?” Bucky asked, halfway between amusement and concern as he tried to get Steve out of his day clothes so he could be comfortable enough to have some decent rest.
“Thinkin’,” Steve said, letting heavy eyelids close again; peaches and cream tones and those long eyelashes.
Unbuttoning Steve’s shirt, helping him shrug out of it, Bucky murmured, “What about?” He tugged on the blanket trapped under Steve to try to coax him under the covers. (Too drunk to remember any of this, but Steve was safe with him.) Unprompted and without sitting up first, Steve tried to get his undershirt off, only managing to get it caught halfway over his head. When Bucky helped him pull it the rest of the way off, Steve reached out to grab his hand. Palm to palm, long slender fingers, the freckles on his knuckles. Just...warm. The only thing Bucky could think was, ‘warm.’
“You’re beautiful,” Steve slurred.
Bucky’s heart leapt into his throat, choking him. Sitting down heavily on the side of the bed, he pulled his hand from Steve’s grasp to tuck the blanket up around him. “You’ll forget you said that in the morning, when you’re miserable and hungover.” And Bucky would pretend this hadn’t happened—for his own sanity.
Steve shook his head, blinking half-lidded eyes. Glacial isles, made of magic. Every word was slow. “No, I won’t. Think about it every day. Beautiful. One of them Botticelli paintings of a saint.”
Bucky squeezed his eyes shut thinking, ‘Don’t. Please, don’t. It hurts.’ Because it wasn’t real. Steve had an eye for aesthetics; that was all. He could appreciate nice bone structure. It wasn’t real. His eyes flew back open when a soft hand touched his burning cheek.
“So pretty I could cry.” Wide-eyed, Steve was still looking at him like the oldest light. It poured mercy over him, soothed him like nothing else.
He held Steve’s hand against his cheek, biting down hard on the inside of his bottom lip. “Please, go to sleep.”
Chapter 6 is up!
We all have heard of this moon/sun character ships but let me introduce you to:
the sun
the moon
and the stars
like literally guys they all have two hands, is the solve to all the problems, the ultimate mcu ship
Well, Zemo. You're wrong.
There is another superhuman who hasn't been corrupted by the serum. In fact, you are looking at him right now. Bucky.
When Zemo said this line I realized this narrative felt off somehow. Because going by what he said before about all superhumans being supremacists and inevitably ending up down that path, it would mean Bucky is like Karli, or like all the other "corrupted enhanced individuals". And there's nothing farther away from the truth. This may get a bit long so bear with me.
After Bucky was first captured and tested on back in Azzano, he already had a version of what would become the super-soldier serum. It was the one thing that allowed him to survive the fall. If we take Zemo's words as true, it means Bucky had to have been already different (personality-wise) ever since then. So, did he become a machine of hatred and jealousy? did he start killing people left and right? No. You know what he did? He followed his best friend and kept fighting alongside him against the nazis. He may have had to kill back then, but it was war so what are we expecting. Until the moment he fell off the train, there was no indication of something "evil" lurking inside him.
I have an issue with the way certain storylines regarding the Winter Soldier have been dealt with. Starting with the "make amends" notebook. You make amends when you've wronged someone. But Bucky's situation is different. Even if it was him physically doing this stuff, it was beyond his control. HYDRA is the one and only responsible for those horrible things, and yet no one so far (not even his therapist) has actually told him that, or at least reminded him of it. The only person who has ever said this to Bucky was Steve, back in Civil War. He even owns the insult "my people" as if he had truly been part of HYDRA willingly, even if he acknowledges he was captured, he still sees himself as a villain. Those killings were forced upon him. And still, we see him making amends for something he had no say on.
The single moment Bucky regained a small piece of his will, he saved someone. He saved Steve. The first moment he was able to be himself again, even if everything was confusing and scary, he still jumped after this man and pulled him from the river. Flashforward two years, in Bucharest. Is Bucky doing something heartless and evil like going on a murder spree? has he joined any fascist group? No. he's buying plums, living in a small apartment room, and writing his memories on tons of notebooks, trying to cling on to the only thing that reminds him he was, he is good.
And now, with Zemo's comments implying Bucky too is corrupted by the serum... it doesn't sit well with me. I don't know if this is Zemo being Zemo, or if this is the actual approach taken by the writers. Although I'm inclined to believe the latter, given that no one has said anything against it nor corrected Bucky or Zemo about it.
Which I find troubling. Because Bucky isn't bad. He wasn't corrupted by the serum. He's still this loyal, nerdy man troubled by his past. He has never done anything evil by his own decision. Hell, the first thing he did after running away from the countries trying to kill him was to ask to be put on cryo again. "I can't trust my own mind. So until they find a way to get this stuff out of my head I think going back under is the best thing. For everybody." And even in this episode, when he asks Ayo if she's sure about this. She replies with "I won't let you hurt anyone." Because that's what he feared the most. Hurting those around him.
So, I honestly hope this was just Zemo messing with his head again. And I hope the writers manage to acknowledge this before the finale. Because no, Steve wasn't the only superhuman who remained true to himself after the serum. Bucky is too.
SAM was the ONLY one! Seriously, him and Steve were the only people who ever stood up for Bucky and actually said that what happened was NOT HIS FAULT! Ugh I don't know why MCU gives this treatment to Buck.. like the winter soldier is not a villain, he's a victim and a prisoner of war! He's the most broken part of Bucky who has suffered so much and deserves peace and understanding and compassion!
Ugh I LOVE Steve and Sam for being decent human beings and good friends in a world that seems to just step on its victims.
I’m SCREAMING
