So which God has worse luck? Shang Qinghua or Xie Lian?
Or is Xie Lian another one of Qinghua's 'children', one who happens to unfortunately inherite his father's bad luck?

MXTX books are great because at first glance, you think they're just sweet and spicy little queer romance books until you start reading and realize that they're a deep examination and deconstruction of the way society traps and exploits and harms people who dare to not conform perfectly to its standards and that the author is screaming essential, vital messages through her work and you just get drawn deeper and deeper in and you get to look through her eyes and realize exactly what it means to be backed into a corner by the very social structure that created you and allows you to live, so watching it zoom out as the works continue, from the purely interpersonal relationships as the mode of captivity and forced control in SVSSS, to the broader regional social culture in MDZS, to literally the gods themselves, the will of heaven, every single person in the world using their words and opinions to force people back into a corner, cut off their escapes, make it impossible to do good because it will only end up causing harm if they do not SUBMIT in TGCF just blows me away and I will never be the same after reading these books, because they are some of the deepest, most honest and brutal examinations of the way society works to seek out and eradicate every single spot of anything that doesn't exactly conform to the grand social Ideal and idk, I just fuckin feel that and I hope MXTX knows that people listen and hear what she's saying while also deeply appreciating the tiny personal joys she includes that somehow make it obvious that life is still worth living even when it isn't. I'm just... having a lot of feelings.
