Mini Juniors Headcanons
Lan Sizhui
- the type of child you’d have very different first impressions of depending on when and where you first met him.
jgy: Lan Yuan is such a shy and quiet child hm?
nmj: …he spent thirty minutes telling me how to properly care for rabbits and then insisted I watch him do cartwheels
- tree climbing expert
- definitely went through a phase when he was 6 were he pretended to be a bunny for like a week and a half
Lan Jingyi
- his hair was always a mess. No matter how often his parents would fix it for him it would be just as much of a disaster less than a minute later
- they also had to cut his hair a lot because he kept getting it tangled up in things like twigs and mud and there was just no saving it
- hated being picked up.
- all over the place all the time, his parents take their eyes off of him for like a second and he’s gone
- tree climbing prodigy
- chatterbox (surprise)
- wanted to learn an instrument but didn’t and does not have the patience to practice at all
Jin Ling
- in contrast to ljy Jin Ling hated being put down. He wanted to be carried all the time.
jc: you're too old to be carried.
jl, age 6: but my little legs are tired :(
jc: ... fine.
- extremely picky eater from a very young age
- could swim before he could talk or walk
Ouyang Zizhen
- Zizhen would hug anyone and everyone (definitely got scolded for greeting every sect leader at a conference with hugs)
- you literally couldn’t pay him to climb a tree (scared of heights)
- mamas boy 100% would follow his mother everywhere and just loved being around her (he doesn’t quite grow out of this tbh he just loves his mom a lot ok)
- partially taught himself to read in his father’s study
Summary: Jin Ling has never met Lan Sizhui. On Dafan mountain, confronted with a statue they can't defeat on their own, he learns why.
Jin Ling has known all his life that he would one day lead a sect. Nowadays, he knows there was a time when it wasn’t certain which sect it would be, if he might have been presented as the Jiang Heir under the guise of while his cousin would have inherited the Jin Sect. But Jin Rusong is dead, which leaves Jin Ling with his father’s sect and too many cousins and sect heirs to talk to. He’s been exposed to the children of most famous cultivators, their parents hoping to make some connection.
The only one he’s never met is Lan Sizhui, which stands at odds with how close their families are. Their uncles are sworn brothers, it is obvious they should’ve met, but Lan Wangji keeps his son by his side and far away from politics.
If they weren’t running from a cursed statue hellbent on killing them all, Jin Ling would probably be expected to make introductions, but he has trouble keeping even far away from it to make an attack.
“Sizhui!” a loud Lan boy shouts, panic carved into his very heart. “Sizhui, get away! You’re not supposed to fight something like that!”
Love that the juniors met Wei Wuxian as Mo Xuanyu and went "ah yes him we like him and he is our beloved Senior who makes us feel safe just like our beloved Hanguang Jun" then they find out he's actually Wei Wuxian the fearsome and evil Yiling Patriarch and they're just like "the whole cultivation world is wrong because Senior Wei is a very good teacher and has protected us and taught us plus he is married to Hanguang Jun and he would never be bad or wrong so therefore we love him our beloved Senior Wei"
Sizhui and Jin Ling's friendship is so weird because Sizhui's uncle and dad killed Jin Ling's dad (by accident) and Jin Ling's uncle killed Sizhui's entire family (on purpose).
How do these boys stay sane?
JUNIOR QUARTET SUPREMACY!
A proud dad 😌😏
Lan Sizhui and Jin Ling don’t see eachother for a while so when they get to finally see eachother again well – 💗

Summary:
For a long time after he regained his memories, Lan Yuan lived in denial. But everytime he looked at them, he remembered..
He remembered that body that came to protect him in the Burial Mounds.
He remembered the sweet old woman in his dreams.
He remembered the one person in this world who protected him even before Wei Quanbei did.
And he couldn't forget.
Jiang Cheng. Lan Xichen. Lan Qiren.
They all killed his sweet grandmother as they stood by and let the atrocities happen.
And he wouldn't forgive. The suppressed fire inside the last Wen was rising as his hurt and anger at the betrayal of the cultivation world reached its peak.
And for its sins, the cultivation world would Burn.
Can A Yuan's fathers, uncle and friends stop him before it's too late?
I, too, like to validate my self-worth based on how much children need me
