when the whumpee is reluctant to take needed pain medication because it doesn’t feel safe to. the pills make them fuzzy, cloud their mind, dull their senses. it’s not safe to not be alert, not be attentive. they can’t afford to be in a state where they could be taken advantage of, hurt. caught off guard.

and then there’s caretaker. promising to keep watch. to be their eyes and ears. to keep them safe while they’re fuzzy, out of it, sleeping off the meds and the pain. and whumpee finally is able to get some relief, because they’re brave enough to take the risk and trust caretaker to keep them safe.
