when people go to museums we often fail to just live in the moment and enjoy artistry around us. instead we overanalyse the settings, think too much and end up under appreciating things. laugh, joke, sit down and just take it all in. artists made these not for you to analyse but so you could be mesmerised and fall in love with their art.
My next character development arc is gonna be my villain arc.
Only thing keeping me going these days is my fantasy to live in a secluded mansion with my ten cats and secret library.
Fuck zodiac signs, which three fictional characters’ personality did you borrow ?
I have a huge amount of respect for authors who have the strength to kill off their main characters. Because in some stories death is the only peace and mercy that can be given to that character, it is the only way they can be at peace with themselves; as a person who loves the character, yes I would inevitably cry but as a reader who loves the story, I’d be content knowing that the author gave the readers an ending fit for the story and a lesson that not all stories have a happy ending. Tell me which story this was for you.
Ok we all love the enemies to lovers trope but what about specifically…. academic rivals to lovers?
‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ applies more to people than it does to actual books. Cuz you bet I’m going to look for the prettiest cover edition of a book available when buying it.
Its amazing how I constantly seek out book recommendations when there’s a whole pile waiting to be read.
Books based on murder mysteries are amazing; you’re trying to solve the murder along with the main character except you have little to go on about considering you live through the eyes of the detective and it’s so frustrating and exciting at the same time and don’t get me started on murder mystery series , those make me wanna scream for the next book .
SPOILERS FOR THE FOLK OF AIR SERIES
Note: This is in no way discriminating against any other fae books.
So my favourite fae book/books will probably always be The Folk Of Air Series. First of all I love how our mc Jude stays human till the end of the series. Although she admits it’s a weakness for her it is also a strength; Jude knows she can not live in the human realm anymore however she loves the magic and admires the fae, however never once does she hate the fact that she’s human. She thrives on being human, using her skills ,her brains to navigate the world of the fae. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but so many series have the mc becoming a mythical creature, so seeing Jude reman human was a breathe of fresh air for me.
The fae: Holly Black makes the fae in her stories be like the ones we heard about in bedtimes stories when we were children. They have horns, tails, fangs and claws and different coloured skin and it’s just so beautiful to read; she doesn’t make the fae these “perfect” human beings. She makes them beautiful in her own way, and kinda shows that beauty literally comes in all sizes shapes and colours.
Morally grey characters. All of the characters have this, they don’t give give reasons for the things they do; if they do something bad then it’s bad . That’s it. No justifications, nothing. Lying, stealing and backstabbing is a common theme throughout the series but guess what? That’s exactly how the real world works as well. Yes Cardan and his gang was horrible, I actually hated him in the first book. But that’s also what makes us like him so much. Because he admits to being horrible, because that is WHO HE IS. A lot of his childhood shaped him to be who he is but the thing is the fae we’re brought up to be exactly like that. Jude isnt the perfect heroine either . She has a hard time trusting people ( I can understand why), she’s rash and young, and will not hesitate to murder you ( literally ).
So yeah I flipping love this series so much to the point I’ve re read it so many times.
GIVE ME A CHARACTER
and I’ll crack their ass down, ( can be from classic lit, or any book series/ dark academia book, basically any book) I’ll do ones that I know
1. How I feel about this character
2. Romantic OTPs ( if they have one )
3. Unpopular opinion ( y’all don’t come after me for this one)
Someone giving me flowers ,
Me: “looking up symbolism behind the flower”
Them: I just thought they were pretty and you’d like it.
Me: *horror intensifies*
Academia lovers be like ah yes wine, tea, coffee. BITCHES GO DRINK WATER. Ok have a nice day, bye.
Make wearing gloves a thing again; lace gloves, silk gloves, and bring back that aesthetic where I can slowly peel the gloves off my fingers. I also realised this can have so many implications : am I taking the gloves off as a sign of vulnerability, or am I taking it off to clean the blood in it? Or is it for the sexual tension who knows ?
Imagining myself in what type of outfit I’ll wear, what power I’d have and what relationships I’d be in, in a book after I finish reading it? ME? No never ..
Never disrespect other fandoms or the content of those fandoms, ever. If you do not like their content than move along; it’s totally fine if you don’t like it, but never disrespect them, or make trashy comments and posts abt them. This applies to all fandoms, and forgive me, but I’m sick and tired of seeing toxic posts on my tl where a fandom I am actually apart of is being disrespectful towards another one.
Me finding a post of a fandom I haven’t been active in ages: “ IM BACK BITCHES”
Also me : literally has forgotten everything, has to go back to wiki pages, speed reading through everything to jog my dieing brain cells back to life.
