Iron Logs - Season Finale (Now on Webtoons and Tumblr)

Webtoons Page - Tumblr - Tumblr Page & Chapter Index After nearly a year of production, the first story arc of my webcomic series Iron Logs has officially ended. The last few pages were posted earlier today on both its Tumblr and Webtoons sites. Though the Plastic Forests arc is now over, the series is far from it’s true ending. I have it planned that the series will span at least three other chapters: Home Is Where The Heart Is, Buffer and Endgame Number One respectively. With that said though, there will be a hiatus between this chapter and the next. I’m a die-hard perfectionist when it comes to making comic art. I hate to call it a hiatus, as hiatuses commonly precede silent cancelations. I have a lot planned for the comic, much more than could be seen in these few pages of a much larger concept. Though it’s over for now, it’s only the beginning of a much longer ride with many twists and turns... god that’s a cliched way to end this post. Gotta think of something interesting. Lemme think of something... Ah, I’ve got it! Not gonna say what though.

When reading on Webtoons, give a comment or a rating with your thoughts if you like. Some stick-in-the-mud gave it a one star rating the moment I first made the account for it and the comic’s been stuck at a 5 out of 10 ever since.

Iron Logs (Ongoing Multi-Chapter Webcomic)

Iron Logs Homepage | Page & Chapter Index | First Page Iron Logs is my most unfiltered work. It exists as its own world that constantly sways from abstract humor to existential exercises and sudden bouts of nonsensical ultraviolence, paying homage to how surrealist authors of the 20th century would use their mediums  in reality-bending transgression. In this form of extremity, what can be considered as humorous to some  may be “creepy” to others. You can’t pin a genre to life. Iron Logs thrives upon the unsure and cryptic. The title itself is partly its own riddle. While there is a location known as the Iron Woods, the iron in iron logs can also be taken as an allusion to the iron in blood, with the log being a reference to how test subjects in the Unit 731 camp were referred to as logs, with their deaths being counted as how many “logs” fell. The iron log can also be taken as a reference to the atomic bomb. https://ironlogswebcomic.tumblr.com/

Eavesdropper: May 16th - 2018 In the heart of the goat farm there’s this one bar, and occasionally on sundays I go there to lounge for an hour. Not knowing any of the residents, I spend most of my time there listening in on nearby conversations to draw inspiration for short comics. To give some context, the goat farm is this one place in Atlanta that’s an artist hub, though the several few times I went there I saw more free roaming animals than people. It’s like what you’d get if you took a town from the industrial revolution era and draped it over with the skins of Tarkovsky’s Stalker, with loose chickens and roosters spread across the place for good measure. Being chased through an empty factory cityscape by a rampaging rooster hiding in the nearby trees does wonders for the ego. As a fanatic of industrial scenery, the place has become a minor fascination of mine. It’s best experienced during winter nights when you have no clue where the hell you are because it’s so dark. It was sometime in the late afternoon when I drew this one, and there were only two people on the opposite side of the room who were discussing something about futuristic machines being found in nazi Germany. In mid conversation, the guy leading it pauses and says something to the effect of “You see that kid? I think he’s documenting our thoughts in that book”. Gotta give it to them, they weren’t wrong.

The second half of Iron Logs’ first story arc, The Plastic Forests, is on the way! 10 pages of its follow up have already been finished with several others just about to leave the inking stage. How much longer will Roger and Karina try in vein to tolerate one another, what will come of Eugene and most importantly, who the hell would’ve been calling at that hour? Link to the first page - The blog itself - Page and chapter index Been waiting a long time to finally say this. After months of drawing, writing, tuning and fine tuning, Iron Logs is now up for reading! For those not in the loop, Iron Logs is a surrealist webcomic miniseries inspired from my many years of researching avant-garde, absurdist and transgressive fiction. An undeniable factor in these works is how they would both break and embody the established mediums they were built from. Iron Logs itself transcends the webcomic format in its extremism in both the fantastical and the mundane, growing and shrinking from any genres that may attempt to shackle it. In this extremism, while unpredictable, commonly distorted and at some points unsettling, it actively embodies the selling point of the serial as a basic concept, the intrigue of the unknown and the unanswered. All the visual art that populated this blog in the form of the occasional illustration has now culminated into a lengthy, multi-chapter narrative filled with the offbeat experimentation that this blog thrived on. There’s contrast heavy traditionally inked illustrations, glitchy photo collages, multi-page spread illustrations and lots of other cool avant-garde stuff. The first 24 pages were posted in a large dump just yesterday. So what are you waiting for? Go over and check out Iron Logs!
