Some collages from back in January that I never got to posting. I can tell just from looking at these that I was listening to Why Hide and Your Property by Swans while making them.
Some additional entries from the collage notebook. Should eventually do a video showing the full book once I fill out enough of it.
Photo collage sketchbook excerpts, scanned and ‘flattened’ with a threshold filter.
The first several pages of my photo collage notebook. It’s a standard spiral-bound sketchbook that I started putting collage pieces into. It’s a work in progress in its earliest stages (started assembling it last night), expecting to eventually add text along with additional photo pieces.
Existing Zones: May 1st (Walpurgis Night) - 2019 This collage is from a creative collaboration that I did with Steven and Casi Cline. For this certain round of collage-making, I brought printed copies of a collection of images from my personal collage material library (most of which were more recent, but there were still some lasting obsessions tossed into the mix like vintage military photographs and images relating to nuclear bombs testing).
Kearns Diptych: May 1st (Walpurgis Night) - 2019 Several collages from a creative collaboration that I did with Steven and Casi Cline. For this certain round of collage-making, I brought printed copies of a collection of images from my personal collage material library (most of which were more recent, but there were still some lasting obsessions tossed into the mix like military photographs and images relating to nuclear bombs testing). Around the end of the night, we decided that we would do our own personal diptychs where we based two collages from the same image. I eventually got the idea for the top image when Casi pointed out that the hand of the cop closely resembled the organic handgun from Videodrome, that aspect is utilized on both creative ends of the diptych. Some of the collages by Steven and Casi from that night are linked below. Diptych 1 - Casi Cline The Wonderful World Of Fairy Tales - Steven Cline 3 The Process - Steven Cline Diptych 2 - Casi Cline
Photo collage excerpts from “LEVEL 3: IMPOSE OBSESSIONS”, a fictitious tabloid magazine in Kafka’s Supermarket that taps into the taboo fascinations of the film’s depiction of the general public.
A handful of photo collages from 2018 that were finished that I never ended up uploading.
The Death Of A Home, Final Gate, Autopsy: December 4th - 2018
The complete set of illustrations that I drew to Drawkill’s Goretober prompts. Had several ideas that didn’t make it through where they could be done on time, but was able to finish more of these than I initially expected (especially with all the film production antics going on, both on my original projects and work for hire type stuff). Got a bit quirky with these in a way (especially with Christmas Over Tokyo), but happy with how they came out. Figure At The Base Of A Crucifixion: Prompt 01. (Pins And Needles) Senseless Fixation: Prompt 02. (Sensory Loss) Weaponized Dreams: Prompt 04. (Flesh And The Machine) The Colony: Prompt 08. (Infection). Christmas Over Tokyo: Prompt 14. (Blood Blood Blood). Man Bites Dog: Prompt 15. (Animal Instinct). Frankenstein’s Nightmare: Prompt 19. (Dismantle Instructions. Reconstruction Of A Fallen Angel (Frankenstein Version 2): Prompt 31. (Scientific Diagram).
Drawkill Goretober Prompts Day 04 - “Flesh And The Machine” Those who know me are well aware of my admiration for the 1989 Shin’ya Tsukamoto film Tetsuo: The Iron Man. That sort of Japanese cyberpunk gore is the stuff of artistic goals, and I absolutely knew I had to do something with this specific prompt. The characters depicted are original characters from two projects that I’m currently working on.
December 1897 To January 1898: August 31st - 2018
Hard Drive < Mode 1 - Summer 2018 > : August 20th - 2018 YouTube - Vimeo - Complete Cinema Of Distortion Playlist A new work has been added to my ongoing cinema of distortion series, an intense avant-garde biker short titled Hard Drive. Hard Drive is the first of a new personal experimental sub genre called Action-Garde. With this sub genre purely abstract imagery and sounds are taken and collaged together to create an atmosphere that communicates intensity and high speed. A cinematic rush of energy with no logical or conceptual limitations.
