I remember when this came on and I was expecting some huge battle music, but then the strings came in and the drums did too, and I realised that ending battle was this sad, terrible thing that wasn’t supposed to be happening, and I just kinda sank into my couch at that point…

I’m a firm believer that the best benders are those who look beyond their own element’s bending techniques and discover new ways of bending. Look at Toph, she bends completely differently from other earthbenders, and she’s one of the most powerful benders in the world. Look at Iroh, he devised lightning redirection from waterbending. This just shows that Zuko is a great firebender.

I honestly love that Zuko’s bending stayed pure fire instead of lightning too. At first it’s kind of a flaw and boy does he have a bunch - all interesting and well explored. But by the end… stuff like this… idk I just feel like it’s a greater spiritual connection to his element. Especially when you see him do stuff like this and you can see the start of something deeper in his understanding of the craft.
