the misinterpretation of a lonely place of dying by later retellings drives me nuts because ‘tim finds out who batman is’ is nearly not as much of a big deal as ‘tim doesnt want to be robin’ in the actual origin and it pretty much sums up whats wrong with modern tim drake. ALPOD is a tragic story of a twelve year old boy who had everything and willingly gave it up for a greater good. he is not like dick and jason who became robin to escape tragedy nor bruce who had everything and then lost it. robin was nothing but a curse he accepted to bear and he did so because of his selflessness. that selflessness is his driving rod, his smarts and physical talent are only the tools he uses to achieve his goals. he is not ‘the smart one’, he is a sacrificial lamb for a cause he became an unwilling spectator of. a twelve year old boy thought ‘people need saving, its that simple’ and put on the clothes a dying kid not much older than him wore because of nothing more than his selflessness and everyone he loved paid the price for it. he paid an even greater price for it.

Becoming robin was NEVER Tim's first choice. I think a major part of his character is that if you have him the choice to redo things so that everything would have been ok without him becoming robin, he would have taken it. But in the same breath if you had told him to make that choice, but the only time everything ends up better is if he does become robin, he would have made the same choice every time. Tim always weighs the greater good over his own self preservation.

imagine the “Robin meets the JL while Batman is away” trope but it’s inverted. instead of being funny and interesting and extroverted all of the Robins just bolt. bolt, hide, or fight. B told them not to ever let themselves get cornered and to run if a meta sets eyes on them. so they run, they hide, and they fight back with a tiny shard of holdout Kryptonite B had embedded in their gauntlet. they dig their boots in, clench their fists, and prepare to be immovable at <100 lbs.

I mean, if a meta appears in Gotham -especially a Justice League meta- without batman around, it would be safe to assume that shit has gone down. Like, well above Robin's paygrade, you-are-not-trained-enough-for-this-stay-in-gotham-and-protect-her type shit. Batman has tried his hardest to ingrain into his robins that it's better to run away from a situation you can't handle. Better to run and have a bruised ego, then stay and die with only pride.

Cannon! Tim Drake was less “super smart fanboy kid with a camera” and more “internet message board conspiracy theorist with a wall of red string who has undiagnosed adhd and anxiety” and I think we should really be talking about that more

Yeah sure fannon Tim being a cute kid with a camera is whatever but what happened to “I watched a kids parents die and it traumatized me so hard that I hyperfixated on him to cope and now I make conspiracy theories about him and also his family”

Like, the reason Tim and Bernard tend to work as a couple is that they both match each other's freak. they're both crazy conspiracy theorists, it's just that Tim happens to be correct a fair amount of the time

am i a tim drake fan? yes. do i support the blind glazing of tim drake in current comics? no. WHY IS HE IN ALL OF THEM. WHY IS HE SOMEHOW STILL ROBIN. GET HIM OUT OF THERE.

and the blatant disrespect of other characters in service of him is beyond ridiculous. bring back boy failure tim drake i miss him.

The day DC stops forcing Tim to be robin and move on is the day I can finally rest
