I have so many feelings about Sabine and Tom lowkey adopting Adrien??
- The first time Tom encounters Adrien is during parent day, and he immediately picks up on the fact he’s one of the only kids there without a parent
- He later has some not too savory things to say about parents who abandon their kids
- Marinette goes “oh yeah, that was Adrien
(you know, the one I keep telling you guys about). He has a… complicated relationship with his father” - Tom frowns. He’s going to have words with that boy’s father if he ever meets him
- Sabine decides right then that she’s going to spoil him rotten if he ever crosses her threshold
- They knew exactly who he was when he showed up on their doorstep in Le Gamer
- But then that evening over supper Sabine goes “you never told us he was underfed, poor boy is skin and bones”
- And suddenly Marinette understands a lot better why her parents were being so pushy with the snacks
- From then on Marinette mysteriously finds she always has too much food with her at school, whether it’s a bag of croissants shoved into her hand as she’s running out the door, or a loaf of cheese bread pressed at her because “it’s a new recipe, get your friends to try it and tell us what they think”
- She’s Marinette, so she always shares her food with everyone, but Adrien always gets some
- He’s not sure why he’s suddenly getting all these free goodies and he’s too polite to ask, but he fell in love with Tom and Sabine’s cooking when he was over so he’s not complaining, especially not when each bite tastes like warmth and a home he hasn’t known in years
- The entire extended family knows about Marinette’s classmate, to the point that Uncle Cheng guessed who he was right away when he showed up to play translator
- He insisted on making Marinette and Adrien a huge meal to thank them for keeping him company and translating for him, and for as long as he’s in Paris he finds ways to slip Adrien homemade snacks. Adrien is too polite to refuse them
- As Marinette and Adrien grow closer, he starts going to the bakery for lunch instead of going home. The bakery is always warm and light and has good food and people who care about him; he hadn’t realized how much he craved those things
- His home felt like that too once, but it hasn’t for a long time now
- Adrien acquires a rosy glow and a spring to his step; he looks like a weight has been taken off his shoulders
- He starts opening up and participating more in class, he’s no longer the quiet unapproachable rich model. Nino comments on how nice it is to see him so carefree
- All this translates to Chat being even more exuberant and over-the-top dramatic than usual; Ladybug feels like there’s a permanent bruise on her forehead from facepalming so hard but she can’t help but smile at seeing her partner so happy all the time
- Sabine starts teaching him the basics of cooking and baking and it’s not unusual to find him helping out in the bakery
- Tom teaches him how to knead dough to make a perfect loaf of bread and challenges him to video game tournaments while they wait for their dough to rise
- Every moment he’s not modelling or busy with lessons and extracurriculars Adrien is at Marinette’s place
- He learns that family doesn’t have to be limited to the people he’s related to by blood.
