it is incredibly sad, actually, and it certainly doesn’t only apply to straight women. women’s objectification, degradation, and control are so central to our culture’s sexual narrative and we as women are laden with so much shame, insecurity, and other baggage about our bodies and our sexuality from such an incredibly young age that for many of us, consuming erotica that doesn’t involve women is a significantly simpler, less conflicted, and more sexually satisfying experience.
so yes, it’s sad. it’s unspeakably sad to be a woman and have so many negative ideas, feelings, and memories associated with the concept of women in sexual situations that this concept becomes a turn off, and to thus feel so alienated from your own sexuality that it is more satisfying to imagine yourself engaging in sex as a man.
You’re gonna need a pep talk sometimes. That’s okay. For now, remember this: You’re awake. You’re awesome. Live like it.
