SCHENECTADY, N.Y. —A 5-year-old New York girl who lost her family in a fire that was intentionally set has one wish this holiday season: Christmas cards from around the world.
In 2013, Safyre Terry’s father and three younger siblings died in a fire caused by arson. Safyre was found in the debris next to her father, who used his body to shield her from the flames.
Safyre suffered severe burns, and in the months following the fatal blaze she lost her right hand and left foot.
She lives with her aunt, Liz Dodler, who has sole custody. Her aunt bought a tree to hang holiday cards on, and when the little girl saw the tree she said she couldn’t wait to fill it up.
Dodler took to Facebook to post a photo of Safyre standing next to the tree in the hopes of getting enough cards to fill the display.
Cards can be sent to:
Safyre P.O. Box 6126 Schenectady, NY 12306
Tell you what. If you do this, if you send this sweet little girl a card, I will write you a minific for a ship of your choice.
To qualify, take a picture of the envelope with her address (leave your own out) and stamp visible … post it on your tumblr and tag me (before 12/25/15). I will send you a message asking you for a prompt in return (if I don’t see it within a day or two, give me a shout to let me know).
Happy holidays, folks. Spread the love. Be good to each other.
Im so sending her a card.

Y'all, so many of you follow us from different countries and cities, please send this little girl a card if you can.
Posters, paper dolls, stickers etc make good little gifts to tuck in the card!
onetownthatwontletyoudown: It doesn’t have a stamp yet…we don’t keep them at home and I take my cards all at once to the post office, which isn’t open yet as I live in a small area and they’re only open like 3 hours a day. I’ll send another with the stamp when I get there in the next few days, if you want.
I heard about this little girl on Facebook the other day and added her to my “address” doc. I love sending out Christmas/holiday cards and I always try to find one or two children or older folks who just want to receive cards for the holidays.
