Because sleeves can’t be too big :) Inspired by Art Nouveau fashion, adjusted to own design. Made of ivory lace, decoated with laces, trims and clasps, on the sleeve hems lots of pale beige nude vintage lace ^^

“The chunky cardigan is from L Train Vintage, and the sweater underneath is my mother’s old sweater from Esprit (which she wore when she was pregnant with me), the 70s pants I grabbed off Ebay and the thrifted shoes are by MIA. My current favorites are Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons and a 80s new wave/New Romantics band called Alaska y Los Pegamoides. I am really into the color palette of just red and pink together or separately because of the collection I am working on is in this palette (I am a fashion design student at Parsons). Also, some visual artists I am really inspired by lately are Andrea Hasler and Keith Edmier who also work in this pink/red palette.”

Opening on November 10th, 2017 at Glass Rice Gallery in San Francisco, California is artis Ingrid Wells’ solo exhibition, “Spectacle.”

Wells explains her work as, “investigat[ing] the absurd notion and sad reality of the feminine spectacle using miniature plasticine trinkets, painted as shiny still-lifes and inflated to grand proportions on the canvas. The over-the-top, sparkling works deliver a feminist message, commenting on the ridiculous pressure women face to remain charming, precious, and small while fighting for equality and respect. My goal is to provide a place of subtle reflection and to, ultimately, dismantle the patriarchy (in the sweetest way possible).”

Spectacle” will be on view until December 16th, 2017.
