testing my salvedged photomultiplier tube. initially i couldnt find any good info on the socket it came with and i assumed it was just some passives to correctpy bias all of the stages but it turns out its wayyyy cooler. its a fully encapsulated step up converter that turns a +9v input into a -1000v output to power the tube. i got it to sense a flashlight in a dark room through 2 dirty socks which is better than i could do. all i need now is a bit of plastic scintillator material and an amplifier and gauge and boom. i got a radiation detector :)

I do have a geiger counter design in the works currently as well. ill update when i get that up and running.

mike wakes up in the very early morning to a large bang and flash outside his curtained window that sounded like a springed hinge snapping back together. he looks moves the curtains and looks outside his window onto and past his fire escape and sees nothing out of the ordinary. he debates whether the bang sound couldve came from inside his room. he is confused and falls back asleep pondering what the source of the sound could have been.
