Today is the last day of Escalin Week 2021!

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, supported, and enjoyed this week with us!

We had a very good time and were totally ecstatic to see all your beautiful and inspiring works!

But we don’t want to end the fun just yet. To make sure those who would like to still present their work, we will give everyone a one-week extension to post all your unfinished works, or come up with something else that you didn’t have the time to before!

After this extra week we'll close the event for this year on November 20, and contact everyone who participated at least 3 days and/or did the challenge, so that they can choose the content of their prize.

Just to refresh your memory, the prize this year for each person who qualifies will be a 100-word Escalin drabble with a prompt of your choice written by this year's mods: Nitefyre, Aisling (sailingskye on AO3), and RoryWild.

Hello everyone!

Today we'll be giving out the first of the little gifts that we came up with for all of you Escalin fans! We hope this helps you find inspiration and encourages you to participate in the Escalin Week 2021 event!

Some of you may have already noticed that this year's prompts have 3 different 'themes': song, word and colour.

We believe that music brings out the best in each person’s creativity, so we decided to curate 3 playlists for you to enjoy while working on your Escalin piece. Each playlist is selected out of our favourite songs that remind us of Escalin. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to them, and we hope you will too!

ESCALIN WEEK 2021 CHALLENGE(S)!

For Day 7, while it is a “free day” when you can let your creativity run free, we want to invite you to participate in this year’s challenge, if you want to do so. We decided to split the challenge into 3 smaller ones, so you can pick and choose which one works best for you! You will only need to participate in any 1 of these 3 in order to win your 100-word drabble!

For writers: "No Words"

Because Escanor and Merlin both are the “show, don’t tell” type when it comes to loving one another, and let’s be real, neither of them really need words to understand each other <3

Write a story without using dialogues. Challenge yourself to convey the feelings and emotions through actions and descriptions in your story.

For visual artists:

"Dusk to Dawn"

Because their love story goes on every single hour of the day.

Use this specific colour palette for your work. You may also change the colours' saturation and/or brightness.

"Black and White"

Because nothing is as certain as how much they love and care about each other.

As the name suggests, your work will have to be totally black and white/greyscale. You may also utilise any shades of grey in between.

We got some super exciting news…

Escalin Week 2021 is almost here! This year, the week of November 7-13 will be the week of celebrating our favorite lovebirds/sins with a week of music, stories, and art. Post your art, stories and more on Tumblr and Twitter under the tags #escalinweek and #escalinweek2021! Remember to include these tags in the first 5 tags of your post.

In general, this event is not NSFW, hence, we will not be reblogging explicit NSFW/gore/heavy themes. However, we will reblog mild nudity/moderate gore and such. If they’re on par with the manga, especially manga panels directly out of the manga, we will reblog them. Please make sure to tag everything accordingly and include content warning when appropriate. We will also try to do so for the sake of everyone’s comfort level.

Under certain circumstances, we may reblog explicit NSFW works: We will reblog NSFW works if they’re tagged correctly, censored in some way and posted where users must consent to viewing the work.

There will absolutely be no stealing/plagiarism ever accepted, to respect the hard work and efforts of the amazing creators out there. Any violations will be reported and disqualified.

The reward for participating for at least any 3 days, or the challenge, will be a 100-word Escalin drabble with a prompt of your choice by our mods this year: Nitefyre, Rory (RoryWild on AO3, author of “How It Should Have Gone” and “Searching for the Light”), and Aisling (sailingskye on AO3, author of the “All Kinds of Trouble” series). Details on the challenge will be announced within the next 2 weeks!

To show our gratitude for your support for Escanor and Merlin, we will be dropping little gifts, lovingly curated by Nitefyre, Rory and Aisling, throughout the weeks leading up to this year’s Escalin week, for everyone who chooses to participate this year!
