An older lady finds a ghost in her garden, with no memories of who he is or where he came from, and together they set out to find the answers.

TABLE OF CONTENTS HAS DROPPED LET'S GOOOOO
Cover reveal for my short story!
[Left to right: Lead Agent Percival Stanton, Cal the teenage dragon fugitive, Agent Jeanne Townford with a Gun]
The amazing @meadow-roses did a fantastic job with the art and also she's the best I love her so much
All I Wanted Was a Cup of Tea:
Agent Jeanne Townford would really just like a break, but that's a little hard when her very thorough coworker shows up to discuss their current case—at the same time that she is trying to smuggle the fugitive from said case through a portal. Tune in for shenanigans, friendship, and the courage to keep on living.

I read this!!! It was SO GOOD, I love these characters already and I want them to be able to live their best lives (hopefully together in some way)
Hey everyone! I meant to get back into the swing of things before the tournament ended, but here we are. Anyway, major congrats to Felix and @meadow-roses! (Just as I predicted hehe).
So, what all is going on with ye old blog and what can be expected going forward?
Currently, I finished setting up my newsletter (which you can find here), a new thing that will be consistent going forward. So you'll probably hear about it every now and then. As far as other author platform stuff goes, I'll be setting up a Ko-Fi and Patreon in the next few weeks, and then a website in the next few months (partially already set up here). I am also taking part in a group promotion for fantasy indie authors, which I will share more about later. Oh, and I finally compiled a masterlist of the all the chapters/updates to Terrarium Lights.
The main and most exciting thing that's fast approaching is the story I'm gearing up to share, shared episodically via email, in episodes/chapters delivered right to the reader.
It will be affected by the audience, as it is structured to allow suggestions, feedback, and votes to shape parts of it; and all of this will be totally free to participate in for anyone interested. I have been slacking about sharing about it, but that will be remedied soon. This is an older story that's gotten re-vamped and fleshed out, and I'm excited to be sharing it.
New pinned post up will be up in a bit with links and a re-introduction to the blog, etc.
I also have a lot of art from ArtFight that I haven't shared yet, and some new characters and character art that I will be sharing, too. Plus I gotta round up all the stuff I submitted as character propaganda and post it more properly on my blog. So I'll be a bit busy for a few months at least XD
tl:dr: I have an email list now and am doing other authory platformy stuff, I'm gearing up for a serial story that will start releasing soon and will be free to participate in, and I am going to be posting more about characters, stories, and (belatedly) ArtFight pieces. And I'm glad y'all are here
Exciting updates! (I need to finish posting my Artfight pieces too, whoops)

Loch [Loch, Stock, and Gun Barrels @larissa-the-scribe]
The smallest little (autistic-coded) guy, despite being a centuries-old scottish water fae with a dragon friend (named Friend). Accidentally ended up in America, and is doing his best to learn about this new place by reading the New Testament and the Constitution--which might have been useful, if he hadn't ended up in the Wild West. He is now following around an outlaw and getting vocally bewildered by all the laws this guy is breaking.
Logis [Arcane and Androids @thegoldenherd]
while his creator publicly claims Logis was built for the purpose of making clocks, his true reason for creation was to uncover truths by utilizing pure logic. throughout his life he gets into trouble for his compulsion to uncover the truth, from minor invasions of privacy, all the way to state secrets and conspiracies, and eventually mystical truths beyond even his own understanding.
They would be such friends, though. And honestly, adding that extra bit of genre mashing just adds to the fun?
Still though, vote for Loch, guys! He's so good :)

Thaendric [Rifters @larissa-the-scribe]
His adopted dad turned evil, so now he's trying to save the multiverse to stop him. Is very bad at magic and also social interactions. Unfortunately, he has to work with other people now, and they're starting to infect him with *teamwork* and *being vulnerable* and *friendship*, so he's struggling to maintain Angstiest Loner status.
The Enemy [Machina @thepartyponies]
The king’s Right Hand. Commander of his armies, Enforcer of his will. Best swordsman in the kingdom, trained by the previous Right Hand, his father, who blamed him for his sister’s apparent death. Carries a Big Fancy Sword. A utilitarian, he uses violence and threat in measured and effective ways without remorse. Relentless. Doesn’t waste time with talking or excessive cruelty. Doesn’t waste much of anything. No known living relatives. Never smiles or laughs. Doesn’t like beans. 6’3”, ~230lb brick sh**house.
Excerpt from Smol Thaendric's backstory, "meeting" his younger brother for the first time:
Thus a few years passed before he had a proper interaction with the brat, beyond a few passing glances. Dad brought the toddler to watch Thaendric run drills. The chubby-faced kid could walk but still lost his balance easily; he had large, round eyes that stared at everything in mute fascination, and a very serious face. The fascination seemed mixed with concern. “Ethaedred,” their father said to the kid, in a voice with the warmth and softness of cast iron, “this is your brother. He isn’t strong, like you will be. One day you will surpass him.” Thaendric gritted his teeth, but from long habit said nothing. Their dad left the brat at the door and went to talk to one of the trainers. Thaendric ignored the kid and switched from drills to rewrites. He had to be sure to get them perfect this time. The symbols kept mixing up in front of his eyes, but he could do this, he could- Suddenly he felt a tugging at his pants. He started, staring down into the brat’s large golden eyes. They had soft silky strands of light red hair hanging into them. “Um,” the kid said, “what’s a brother?” Thaendric glared at him. “A little annoying nuisance that messes up everyone’s lives.” The kid considered this as Thaendric tried to focus on rewrites. “But you’re not little,” the kid said, eyebrows pinching together in a frown.
~~ five minutes later ~~
A new grin broke over the little guy's face and he stuck his finger out at Thaendric. “I want to be pathetic, just like you!” Thaendric swallowed. His chest felt tight, and so did his throat, the unexpected sentiment ringing in his ears with such a wholesome sincerity so incongruous with everything he usually associated with that word. That inconsistency hit him harder than he was expecting, the stark difference almost tragically comedic; he grinned. A second later, he burst into a loud cackle, startling Ethaedred as he leaned weakly against the table, laughing until his ribs ached. It wasn’t even about the kid’s mix-up anymore. It was relief, it was the release of years of built-up nerves, and it just felt good in a way nothing had felt for a very long time. Ethaedred stared at him blankly before joining in, grinning and giggling, confused but enthusiastic. “That’s not what that word means,” he said, finally, gasping for breath, “at all. You’ll find that out some day when you’re older.” He flicked a finger against Ethaedred’s forehead. “But you can call me that if you want to.” He laughed again. “Yay!” Ethaedred lifted both hands in the air, spreading his arms. “Do I get also get a special brother name?” “Yeah, sure, kid,” Thaendric—no, he was Endric now—chuckled, high-fiving his little brother. “I’ll call you Thae.”
This is so cute! These brothers have my heart 💛
Vote for Thaendric, people! He's so close!

Gail Goffrey [Terrarium Lights @larissa-the-scribe]
An empty-nester with a passion for moss, bugs, and terrariums--and adopting stray kids (ghosts) who end up in her garden. She might not really understand what is going on, but by golly she is going to be a kind, supportive influence.
Gerdie [Far from home @gadzooksgalore]
Gerdie is a character from my work-in-progress story "Far From Home," which I’m hoping to publish as a trilogy someday (Lord willing)! Gerdie is an alien in his late 20's who works as an intergalactic merchant alongside his coworker and spaceship captain, Baz. He fills the role of a mechanic/engineer on the ship, though he shares more generic duties with Baz as well. Gerdie is gentlemanly, well-spoken, and a comforting presence. He tends to be patient and understanding, and often acts as a peacekeeper or mediator when things get hairy, but he's prone to worry (and be vocal about it) in uncertain situations. His species is most known for the feathery crests on their heads, which rise and fall based on emotion, much like a cockatoo. Gerdie is very much an uncle figure and just wants the best for the people he cares about. He loves coffee and can't start his day without it!

YOU CAN DO IT GAIL
(You're cool too, Gerdie, Gail is just GAIL, y'know?)
YES so glad Naphtali won. He seems like a fun oc!!
Awww thank you!!! Naphtali is an oc that's very dear to my heart, so it's encouraging to see other people take an interest!
Thanks again, and good luck in Round 2! :D
OKAY WELL I JUST DECIDED TO SCROLL THROUGH YOUR BLOG AND REALIZED YOU HAD ALL THE CHARACTERS EVER
Like, seriously?? Not just Gail, but also Crispin and Julia?? Ms. Hallifax? Kathryn? Jarryd? LOCH??? So many of the characters that stuck in my mind, and they're ALL YOURS???
I don't know if you're published yet or not, but I NEED YOUR BOOKS
THAT'S SO SWEET IDK HOW TO RESPOND
Thanks so much I'm so glad to hear that 😭. I love these guys, so I'm happy other people do, too!
Re: the last bit, I am not published yet, but working towards it! You've caught me right at the beginning of my career asdfad.
But the first draft of the story with Gail, Terrarium Lights, actually just finished getting posted on here! You can find it >>here or via the link in the pinned post. It's a tad rough but still readable lol. There are other writings/scenes/stories on my blog, but they're a little hard to find and I don't know if I have a consistent tag on them (you could try #scribe writes but I can't remember how long I've been using it, so it might just have Terrarium Lights). I am planning on hunting it all down and making a masterpost that can be referenced easily, as well as a table of contents for Terrarium Lights, but, well, that's still in the works.
I am also working on launching a newsletter that will eventually include a serial story (think like a weeklyish story podcast but written, or Dracula Daily but not necessarily posting on the relevant dates), and while that's close to ready, it's not quite there yet. There have been a string of technical difficulties.
So... stuff coming soon I hope, but not much here right now 😂. I will be posting any relevant updates on here, though, and the bigger stuff will probably make it to a pinned comment for easy finding in the future.
In the meantime, thanks so much for your encouragement!
Haha, don't worry about it. I'm the same way, so I totally get how it is ;)
Oooh, you just finished the Gail story? I'm definitely gonna have to check that out...
So glad I could be an encouragement to you! You've got so many epic characters, and I can't wait to see more of their stories! :D

Lina Lane [Lina and the Locust @eruanna1875]
A five year old girl with dreamwalker wings, trying to say goodnight to her father. Bubbling over with stories about her family and unshakeably hopeful.

Loch moves to round 2!
Congratulations @larissa-the-scribe!! Loch is absolutely amazing, and he deserves this (if it wasn't my Lina, I would've voted for this boy, no question)
I was a little busy yesterday, but I finally made time today to draw this!
Lina very much likes the lake boy. She's probably forgotten there was even a contest. (They've definitely swapped dragon stories by now.)
