ERINNNNN HIHIHI DO U HAVE A DISC SERVER?? IF NOT R U GONNA MAKE ONE??? :3

I actually do have one!

It started out as a server for my fic Home but now it's just a chill, low-key server to hang out and talk! I have a channel in there called #kitchen where I cook (talk about my writing and scare y'all, + tagging the Bird Watchers when I post chapters.) There's also a channel for LoF where you can talk about the fic and send spoilers and stuff! ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

EDIT!!!!!! :

the link is now CLOSED!! thank you to everyone who joined! do not fret if you didn't make it this time, the link will not be closed forever and in the meantime, we can talk on here! <3

Home Discord Server (ErinWantsToWrite!)

If you join from this link, please make sure to read ALL the rules and instructions to be able to actually see channels and talk. And make sure to get your roles!

i think im not a fan of what dc keeps doing with jason because they keep having him, the abused, become an abuser in some way shape or form. and the classism they don't want to talk about (i am being so for real there is a genuine problem of both writers and readers who do not understand jason's background and it pissed me off so bad because it always shapes their opinion of him in the wrong way and they don't care to even try to listen). and how if they were going to have him come back they should have had delved into his identity crisis and the inherent horror of coming back but not knowing how or why or what to do about it and not knowing what you were doing while dead and having to deal with time jumping forward on you and the fact that you will never get the time back and no one will he the same as they were before you died and how isolating and lonely that would be. and they also definitely weren't prepared for the fact that jason was grieving his life and his death and his hopes for his mother and his dad who didn't get there in time and the dc writers are fucking cowards. which brings me to my next point: why do we keep listening to them about shit because they are quite literally always fighting with each other and projecting their own personal biases into characters (i.e. making them worse than they are/2 dimensional/trying to make them iredeemable so their favorite character gets to shine) and also they are all freaks of nature with a consistent problem of being God Awful People who why would we trust them with these characters. jason todd they don't get you like i do

my ass does not remember making this post but YES THIS YES YES YES

the fact of the matter is that gotham DOES have a terrible terrible problem with crime, but it always boils down to the fact that it's KEPT that way by people in a position of power. gotham can not get better until someone is able to root out the corruption in the police, in political offices, etc. the court of owls makes this EXTREMELY hard to do among other circumstances

but the narrative that literally all of gotham's poor citizens are deadbeat nasty pieces of shit makes me so mad because i myself grew up around people who are poor and my family, even, struggled with homelessness a couple of times. living like this does not make you a terrible person. MOST of the time, my closest friends were people who understood what it was like because they went through it. we could be abrasive, and we had a much different way of seeing things than the rich, but they were kinder than any rich person i had ever met. i had people from church who lived in three story houses and never had a want in their lives tell me my parents weren't working hard enough and they didn't deserve help... from the church. this is the kind of shit that makes you feel awful as a kid and is HARD to overlook as you grow older. because YOU know how hard your parents are working and how it's not enough because it isn't set up for you to win

and jason grew up like that! he grew up with parents who had the world against them. the writers often make a viewpoint of willis being an abusive shithead who could never love jason because willis was greedy. they make catherine check out while doing drugs. and shit like that DOES happen. but when the topic is brought up in canon (and sometimes in fanon) it's almost never handled right. do they even talk about how people who are poor, especially in gotham, do not have support systems in place? so it makes me want to forget it entirely for a perspective of: willis might not have been around as often because he had multiple jobs. he turned to a life of crime to support jason and catherine but got caught doing some bad shit and that's why he ends up not in jason's life- because he was pushed into crime while thinking his kid won't be able to eat. because he lives in GOTHAM and that often is the only way to survive. catherine is treated awfully by the writers (it's not like they ever want to write a woman as someone with flaws who is still deserving of love and respect, let alone a poor woman). in one issue she's basically just. there. and jason is written like he was born an awful kid and stayed one and it infuriates me. because catherine got addicted because she became SICK and she couldn't get help from doctors so she turned to something SOMETHING to ease the pain. she died because she was trying not to hurt anymore and she LOVED jason. that's his MOM. that's the woman that raised him like her own flesh and blood and she wanted to be there for him. addiction DOES turn you into another person but comic writers (AND FANON) make her out to be a neglectful person on purpose

when jason becomes homeless, he does shit that he has to in order to live. but he's still a GOOD KID. from a this viewpoint it bothers me that jason becomes "the angry robin" not just because people see him as the Red Hood who came back furious (grieving) but because some people ARE in fact, seeing his background and how he had to live and writing him as an angry kid that has outbursts and shit like that. in some comics they act like he was born to become a killer because of how he grew up. they act like he was a child psychopath in some. in fanon, i SEE you motherfuckers writing him as an angry kid who can't stop fighting people. some of you were never the kid who got rhe opportunity to go to a good school and wouldn't risk it FOR ANYTHING. who wanted an education so bad they would overlook someone calling them trash and scum of the earth, just so they can read or get the chance to do an extracurricular without worrying about it taking away from money for the bills. jason is witty, and kind, and SMART, and he just wanted to help people. he was not doomed from the beginning!!!

When you release the next chapter you should mention the Halloween AU in the notes for the people who may not have heard about it on tumblr :)

that's actually a really good idea i would not have thought to do that so thank you anon!!!!

Erin what about an AU where Peter gets taken in by Gordon because of his uncanny ability to detect crime (aka his spidey sense).

wait... you're onto something here... peter WOULD find the one cop in the city that's not corrupt and they both get attached...

but now I'm just thinking about it like this:

batman (appeared on a rooftop like usual): gordon.

gordon: what?

batman: who is that.

peter: hi batman 😁

gordon: found him at a crime scene. he's my new partner

peter, stirring shit: im his better version of robin

damian!robin: EXCUSE ME?

what voodoo magic are you doing to make that work??

like somethin is brewinn'... and bout to begin... 🎶🎵

im inclined to believe there is smth magic going on because i've gotten so many people talking about this exact thing in my inbox and it's so funny. cause how did you guys know?? the chapter is indeed finished but we have to wait for beta reading to get done. hoping to have it out this week 💖
