Ha, boy I have really made a lot of League of Legends champions! My uh... my team has too much AP...
Oh, what’s this I see? Three excellent support champions... I mean, a jungler, top and mid of course... ^_^ But seriously, between Vel’koz, Tahm Kench, and Pool Party Lulu (and Vi but she was a gift) I have nearly crocheted myself an entire amigurumi League team.
Vi from League of Legends Crochet Pattern
Hi guys! I got an ask about the pattern for Vi from League of Legends - someone wanted to make her as a gift, and my goodness, I think that’d be great! For this little cutie, I used a 3mm hook, and a variety of red heart super saver colors and scrap yarns. If anyone uses this pattern, please link back to my page, don’t sell things you’ve made with this pattern, and also send me a picture! I’d love to see what people do!
Head (off white yarn):
- 6 sc in a magic circle
- inc 6x to make 12 stitches
- 1 sc, inc 6x to make 18 stitches
- 2 sc, inc 6x to make 24 stitches
- 3 sc, inc 6x to make 30 stitches
- 4 sc inc 6x to make 36 stitches
- 6 rows of 36 stitches
- 4 sc, dec 6x to make 30 stitches
- 3 sc, dec 6x to make 24 stitches
- add eyes - I used 12mm on around the 9th row, but I always just place them as I think where I think looks the cutest!
- 2 sc, dec 6x to make 18 stitches
- At this point I used embroidery thread to ad the smile and her VI tattoo - I have learned it is way easier to put those in before the piece is entirely closed off - then stuff it!
- 1 sc, dec 6x to make 12 stitches
- 6 dec to make 6 stitches
- close off w more decreases
Goggles and Hair (hot pink, marigold yarn):
For her hair, I cut a bunch of yarn lengths around 7 inches long, then just threaded them through the stitches - the fact that they are all the same length gave her a very nice layered look! For the left side of her head (the side that is shaved) what I did instead was take one very long length of pink yarn, and made very long horizontal stitches, and threaded under the stitches to move down rows. (better image of this near the end)
For the goggles, I used a marigold color, and made two 6 sc magic circles, sealing them off with hot glue. I then made a 25 long chain, leaving a length of yarn on either side so i could just tie them behind her head. I then hot glued the magic circles onto the chain. I left a length of yarn on either end so I could tie the goggles behind her head. (image of that near end too)
Legs (dark heather grey yarn) make two!:
- 6 sc in a magic circle
- 2 sc, 1 inc 2x to make 8 stitches
- 4 rows of 8 stitches
Body (raspberry, dark heather grey, black, pink, and off white yarn):
To connect the legs to the body, I crocheted around the legs with the raspberry yarn, I used a single chain to put them together, so the total number of stitches around the hips became 17. I then basically did one or two decreases in each row to taper her body up towards the neck, (and LOTS color changes - just do these on the BACK side so the uneven bits are hidden). Also, as for stuffing, I sort of kept stuffing her as I went - hope this makes sense:
- 2 rows of 17 stitches
- change to grey (17 stitches)
- dec 1, go around to make 16 stitches
- 1 row of 16 stitches
- change to black, decrease on the two sides of the waist (15 stitches)
- change to grey, (15 stitches)
- decrease once on the back, (14 stitches)
- decrease on the front and back (12 stitches) - on this row i did one color change to make an off-white stitch - I was trying to put a little bit of cleavage here, but in retrospect I don’t really like the look of it, so you might do just an all grey row
- change to off-white decrease twice at the sides (10 stitches)
Arms (raspberry yarn) make two!:
- 5 sc in magic circle
- 4 rows of 5 sc
attach the arms just below the skin-colored row!
Finally, for her little tutu that peeks out, I made a chain about 5ish stitches long, single crocheted across it once, then sewed it on - I think this can just be improvised for whatever looks best on yours!
Jacket (raspberry yarn):
- chain 12
- sc 12
- sc 1, skip 3, sc 4, skip 3, sc 1 (the skip threes make button-hole typ openings for her arms to go through - when I did it i basically did trial and error to find what would fit her best)
I left long bits of yarn on either side, then threaded them through her body to keep the jacket snug against her body!
Fingers (dark heather grey yarn):
Of course, you’re making two hands - here are the patterns I used for each finger:
- Thumb: sc 6 in magic circle, the 4 rows of 6 sc
- Pointer: sc 5 in magic circle, then 7 rows of 5 sc
- Middle: sc 5 in magic circle, then 8 rows of 5 sc
- Ring: sc 5 in magic circle, then 6 rows of 5 sc
- Pinky: sc 5 in magic circle, then 4 rows of 5 sc
Palms (dark heather grey, marigold yarn):
This is definitely the hardest part - like with the body, i crocheted around the pointer, middle, ring and pinky fingers, basically holding them together while crocheting into them - when I did it, it came out to around 22 stitches all the way around, but I think the ideal would be 20 - however many stitches it takes to connect the fingers, follow the same pattern of decreases to form the palms:
- marigold yarn - 2 rows of 22 stitches
- change to grey, decrease once on each side (20 stitches)
- decrease once on each side (18 stitches)
- decrease once on each side (16 stitches)
- decrease once on each side (14 stitches)
- change to marigold, one row of double crochets (14 stitches)
Then to attach the thumbs, I just sewed them on the sides, facing into the palm. To curl the fingers into fists, I used the tail of the yarn that was left over from the finger magic circles, and thread them through the palm in a way that makes the bend of the fingers look natural - lots of loose threads during this point, just hide them all inside LIKE YOUR FEELINGS lol jk jk jk.
Finally, to attach the fists, I basically pulled them on and used some loose ends of yarn to pull them through her armpits and tie them on the back. I think if you wanted the goggles and fists to be permanently attached, you could just pull the threads through her body and tie them off, but I chose to keep all this kinda messy stuff just hidden behind her hair!
Here’s a view that better shows the back of the gloves and the side of her head with the “shaved” pattern.
Okay! Well, there are some tricky bits for Vi, but I think overall it is just having a commitment to crocheting lots of small tubes and doing color changes in small spaces. Good luck, and feel free to message me if you have questions on the pattern! ^_^
I crocheted a tiny Tahm Kench! I have been trolled so hard by this guy in game, I’d say it’s not even funny, but it is! From a technical standpoint, making him was really cool, since I had never crocheted something with a big open mouth, and making clothes for amis is fun! I must say, when Riot designs gud, they design gud.
