If you want a really good basic-level exploration about why fascists have no fucking taste and can't make good art, the Behind the Bastards episodes about Thomas Kinkade are fantastic.

Basically, the fascist view of art is that art should always be beautiful and uplifting, with an incredibly narrow definition of what beautiful and uplifting means. It's fundamentally anti-creativity and its art is removed of all meaning, soul and wit.

Buy gold...! This week, Emily and V look at one of the coolest fan experiences that they've ever heard about: Gravity Falls fandom's Cipher Hunt. To both celebrate and mourn the end of the series, writer Alex Hirsch created an international scavenger hunt for the fandom, and OUR LOVELY PATRON HOLLY played a pivotal role in connecting fans across the world! Plus, a look at the messages between Alex Hirsch and the absolute fucking goons of Disney Channel's S&P department. Sources Holly's archived blog Messages From S&P

I’m so happy V and Emily Jaye covered Cipher Hunt! it was such a special event and so unique in the history of fandom—I’m so glad it was shared with a wider audience of listeners. Thank you both! Gravity Falls fans: absolutely listen to this episode. It’s always a joy to hear the whole story, no matter how much time has passed, and our lovely hosts do an excellent job of weaving it for everyone to hear <3 ∆

!!!!!!!!

New podcast from 2021 Iditarod rookie, Will Troshynski! So far the introductory episode is up but the majority of upcoming episodes were recorded during the Iditarod itself!

You can find the first episode on Apple/iTunes or on the ATAO Kennel website https://ataokennel.com/onward-and-other-directions/

so alex hirsch guested on my friends' podcast mystery shack lookback for the episode covering cipher hunt and apparently there was lore that was revealed for the first time here. this is the story of Bradley. apparently cipher hunt wouldn't have happened the way it did if alex hirsch didn't bribe some kid at 2am that he was alerted to who didn't know about gravity falls who randomly stumbled across the bill statue before the show even ended

Do kids today even understand why podcasts are called podcasts?

Well, you see, kids, almost twenty years ago Apple produced a portable audio player called – wait, I need to go back further.

Okay, so in the 20th century, the new inventions of radio and television were known as broadcast media – no, wait, that’s not really the start either –

Broadcasting originally refers to throwing, or casting, handfuls of seeds onto prepared ground, typically used with grain crops, which, uh –

– the Agrucultural Revoution, which begain circa 10,000 BC in the Levant, was when humans began preserving seeds for replanting –

A little shameless self promotion! I've returned to the Mystery Shack Lookback-- this time with everything you've ever wanted to know about the demonic in film and media, selling your soul, and fandom reactions to Sock Opera. This is my all time favorite episode and the research I did for this goes back several years. It's my life's work! Check it out and be sure to head over to Patreon to support Charley and Ella!

Featuring a little shout out for the 10 Years Later Zine! Remember to send in your fanworks/ accomplishments to our page for a shout out!

Mystery Shack Lookback, the Gravity Falls podcast I co-host with @popelickva, just premiered our episode about “Scary-oke” ft. an interview with Gravity Falls supervising producer/My Life as a Teenage Robot creator Rob Renzetti!!!

We talk with him about the show’s tonal shift moving into Season 2, the changes to the character dynamics, and the art direction that makes this episode pop.

WE INTERVIEWED ROB RENZETTI

Finally got to listen to this episode on my extra-long commute today!

I’ve really, really been enjoying listening to this podcast since I happened across it after seeing a post a couple of months ago.

As someone who didn’t really get into the show or the fandom until the very end, and missed out on a lot of the GF fandom experience (and had to go back and piece together the fan lore retroactively) I’ve really been enjoying Charley and Ella’s trip through the show’s history. It’s clarified some things and I’ve learned some trivia I didn’t know about!

With the Gravity Falls fandom kind of set on simmer these days, it makes me happy to see fans still finding new and creative ways to keep discussion of it alive!

I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the Mystery Shack Look Back. We had a great time talking about the reveal of Bill’s name, what happens during hiatus, and these things called paratexts. It’s been a dream come true to talk about Graviry Falls from the scholarly perspective!

Did you know that social media mod Aba is a fandom scholar? (Yes they really do study fandom!) Catch them on this episode of The Mystery Shack Lookback for an academic look into our favorite show! They're so grateful to the show's hosts for the opportunity! It was amazing!

Did you know that @popelickva and I have our own Gravity Falls podcast?? Well it’s true!

Gravity Falls’ slow reveal of mysteries bred a unique, tight-knit community, where Charley Marlowe and Ella Cesari first met.
In their new weekly Wednesday podcast “Mystery Shack Lookback”, they provide a historic timeline of Disney’s first continuity-driven cartoon. A time capsule for old fans and a book club for new ones, they talk spoiler-free about the episodes, expanded universe media, and outdated fan theories.

So whether you’re a nostalgic longtime Gravity Falls fan or a new viewer curious about the fandom’s history, check out Mystery Shack Lookback every Wednesday at https://www.pipedreampodcasts.com/mystery-shack-lookback or your favorite podcatcher!

Gossiping Gossipers Ep.5 - Stephreynaart

Hi! This podcast is a show dedicated to interviewing fanartists in the Gravity Falls fandom (or anyone that I damn well please). It gives listeners insight to headcanons, inspirations for OCs and AUs alike, and maybe even a little bit about the person behind the username and avatar.

THIS EPISODE I had a blast interviewing @stephreynaart! We may or may not have gone off topic drastically, but that’s what makes this podcast so much fun and I hope y’all will enjoy listening to it as much as we did recording it! Steph is super sweet and fun and incredibly talented. She also recently took part of a zine! The @roadtripzine that you can purchase TODAY! All the profits are going to a goo cause, so make sure to buy a zine!

If you would like to be interviewed, or have an artist in mind you would love to listen to, PLEASE don’t hesitate to send me a message and I’ll be happy to schedule an interview! ALL artists welcome, be it visual art or writers!

(As always, I have to give credit where credit is due: @siro-cyll, you made me thirsty, thanks a lot. And of course we talked a great deal about @artsymeeshee and @kiki-kit.)

The video is a promo for the Zine! The link to the podcast is right beneath it!

Gossiping Gossipers Ep.4 - ArtsyMeeShee

Hi! This podcast is a show dedicated to interviewing fanartists in the Gravity Falls fandom (or anyone that I damn well please). It gives listeners insight to headcanons, inspirations for OCs and AUs alike, and maybe even a little bit about the person behind the username and avatar.

THIS EPISODE I was a nervous wreck as I interviewed @artsymeeshee. I broke several times and was probably super obnoxious and annoying, but she was so sweet and kind and we both had a lot of fun gushing about her boys. This woman means the world to me and is a huge inspiration of mine; I can’t thank her enough for everything she’s done for me, but maybe I can repay her back in some form by doing what I can to spread her awesomeness around. So PLEASE give her plenty of love and support!

(And as “advertisement” for this episode, please enjoy a sneak peak at Instincts Part 2!)

If you would like to be interviewed, or have an artist in mind you would love to listen to, PLEASE don’t hesitate to send me a message and I’ll be happy to schedule an interview! ALL artists welcome, be it visual art or writers!

(I must give credit where credit is due: we did talk quite a bit about @demico-art and @renconner.)
