A Bill Book related post again. I touched on this the other day when I posted these pages sans-explanation. And I really do still want to make a more coherent post about this, But like

#gravity falls#stanford pines#bill cipher#meta#journal 3#the book of bill#the book of bill spoilers#yeah like... in a doylist way i guess there's a few possibilities#either Alex didn't reread J3 (to see how things had been written/portrayed before) before writing these pages#or he did reread them but decided that the very different way he wanted to write these pages in TBOB was more important right now#so he just figured he'd go ahead with what worked best for THIS book even if it contradicted J3#OR... as you and i are arguing - he felt free to write these pages differently because they're *supposed* to be different#(and not in a “Ford just went off the rails writing-style-wise for these 4 pages only and then ripped them out” way)#My problem with the 2nd notion is that while i can see him feeling that the way he wants to write it in the context of this book#is more important to him; he HAS to know that GF fans - trained to look for details and compare new info to older established info -#(since that was the entire basis of people putting together the Stan Twin theory in the first place)#- would notice the difference and question it; and i find it a little hard to believe that Alex goes so far as to not care#that we'd question it because it's ultimately not important#aargh

Hi hello yes another Bill book post even though I said I was too busy to be making these (and I am!). This will be a quick one. Not an attempt to prove anything. Merely hollering into the void.

#gravity falls#stanford pines#bill cipher#meta#the book of bill#the book of bill spoilers#journal 3#this is ALSO a really good point#you could probably explain why Ford knew this early that Bill 1. could possess other beings;#and 2. that he could use those beings to affect things in the physical world;#and 3. that he could use that power to KILL living beings#(sidebar: how does Bill possess “lower” beings like rats? does he have to make a deal with them and shake their little rat paws?)#(and to Bill - what is the real difference between rats and humans? to him both are “lower beings”)#I mean if you take all of this as information that Ford already had#and you also accept that Ford didn't connect the dots to “can Bill possess me? why or why not?”#then you would *at the very least* expect the way he talks about it in J3 when he gets to that point to be a little different#more “my Muse has finally chosen to bestow upon me a great honor” than the surprise with which he writes about it#(although - if his first intro to Bill being able to possess living beings is “I possessed rats so I could assemble them and kill them!”#then it would hardly look like an “honor” or great favor that Bill was bestowing on him#or I guess you have to decide that Ford already knew but for some reason he lied when writing it down in those journal pages#(but why? to present a “better” narrative? but he was taken aback by Bill's rat gesture but otherwise doesn't seem disturbed by it#so why would he censor that from his future writings in the journal?#but we'd need another long digression here to discuss whether the journals are purely personal#or whether they are written with the idea that others will read them in the future and thus he's writing to that audience)#(lol let's see if tumblr allows this many tags)

Hello. It's me again. I'm sure you've realized by now what this type of introduction to a post is leading into. I'm going to bring up another page in the bill book. This entry is going to be less about "proving" anything, but rather it's just something I'd like to discuss. (Also just a warning, this one ends up a bit long due to how many photos are included!)

New Journal 3 fonts found!

By getting a snippet of an editable PDF version of the Spanish edition, I just found another couple of fonts used for the Gravity Falls Journal 3:

ITC American Typewriter, designed by Joel Kaden and Tony Stan, used for the Oregon Parks Department note, & Smudger designed by Andrew Smith, used to highlight some Ford text in capital letters. Both published by ITC.

*Comparisons made with demos of the fonts for demonstration purposes only.*

In the PDF there were some other fonts that I still need to confirm if they come from the original version or were additions from the Spanish one, if I verify that they do, I will make an update.

I'm still looking for a way to find Soos's, Bill's, and the government's. I've only managed to find Dipper's and Mabel's (which changed since Journal 3):

DK Crayon Crumble by Hanoded, published by Hanoded Fonts and used for Mabel's handwriting.

and Joe Font, used as handwriting for Dipper (and in fact, it's the same font used for the end credits of episodes in the show). Although I was able to find the file to use it, no matter how hard I tried to track down the original source of this font I couldn't do it.
