I wanted to try drawing the GravityStuck! kids in the more standard Homestuck sprite style and I hope you guys like this stuff ‘cause there’s a chance that I may or may not have gotten the tiiiiniest bit carried away

so uh

here’s all the players from both sessions

…and their god tiers

(The best part about crossing over GF with HS is that Sburb’s mechanics come built in with the potential for the Scratch which is basically just canon Relativity)

Figuring out what all of their classpects should be without any accidental overlaps was a heck of a challenge but I think they all fit them pretty well!

I’m a little late, but here’s my entry for @stanuary Week 2: Sacrifice!

This is just fluff; I’m not great at writing angst ;)

Enjoy!

“I’d do anything for the Pines Family... And I mean anything.”

“Soos, we’re outta nachos,” Stan said as he watched his handyman come back from yet another gutterball at the bowling alley.

“On it, Mr. Pines!” Soos said cheerfully, and walked over to the snack bar.

Stan shook his head as he got up to take his turn. Soos was hopeless when it came to bowling, even though he’d come with Stan almost every week for the past few years. Still, the young man was good company and always paid for nachos, so all in all it was a decent way to spend a few hours in the middle of the week.

Stan walked over to grab his red ball when a giant hand snatched it up first, and he looked up into the face of Bud Gleeful.

“Well hey there, Stanford,” Bud said easily.

“Bud,” Stan said, annoyed. “Looks like you got my ball there.”

“Oh, I am sorry, Stanford,” Bud drawled, “But you see my little Gideon decided he wanted a red ball and this one was the closest.”

Stan frowned. Did Bud Gleeful have a kid? He and Bud didn’t really socialize. They both ran the same type of business of selling sizzle instead of steak, Stan with his oddities and Bud with his used cars, but tended to avoid each other- a con man knows better than to trust another con man.

Bud turned around and cheerfully called, “Gideon, boy, get on over here and meet Stanford Pines,”

Can I tell you something when I was measuring Bill's Henchmaniacs, if they had stayed the size when they debuted in Weirdmageddon 1? I discovered something... It manages that Stan is shorter than Lazy Susan! No joke... I saw the two together to take references and yeah! Stan is smol compared to Lazy Susan!

So, I’m trying to figure out where you saw Stan and Lazy Susan together, and he looked a lot smaller than her?

Because after double-checking, it looks like in most of his appearances, he’s a little bit taller.  Probably not a lot, but definitely taller.  I couldn’t find an image in which they’re standing side by side (for a good comparison) and he was a lot shorter than her.

He doesn’t stand next to her all that often, but:

From “Dipper vs. Manliness”, Stan is slouching, but his eyes and his chin are both above the level of Susan’s.  (Don’t pay attention to her hair, obviously; or to Stan’s fez.)

In this sequence from “Dreamscaperers” (one of Stan’s memories), while seated, his eyes and chin are still above hers.

And while older Stan habitually slouches, here’s a comparison with younger Stan next to younger Susan, where he’s standing upright.

Otherwise, though... the thing is, the show really wasn’t super concerned with accurate heights, or even consistency.  I think Alex said something somewhere in the commentaries about being asked about heights, and his answer was basically that they’re muppet-like cartoon characters, realistic heights weren’t really something the crew paid attention to.

Probably one of the best examples of this is Stan’s height in comparison with Bud Gleeful.   Now, Bud Gleeful is basically depicted as a really big guy -- bulky, but also really tall.

And in “The Hand that Rocks the Mabel”, Stan really is SMOL in comparison with Bud.

But don’t expect consistency from the Gravity Falls crew!

In “The Stanchurian Candidate”, he’s a lot taller in comparison with Bud.  (While I don’t have other comparison images to hand, and this post is long enough already, I think that Stan in that final image is also taller than he usually is in relation to Soos.)

So how tall is Stan?  (And Ford?)  Or Lazy Susan?  Or Bud Gleeful, for that matter? We’ll never really know!  Everybody’s headcanons for heights are equally valid.

The changing scale between Stan and Bud in this scene alone is wigging me out.

Like, compare the above to:

Stan looks much bigger, in relation to Bud, than when the scene started.

Not to mention, compare that to:

(Notice where Stan’s shoulders are in the bottom one, compared to the one above that.  In the above, his shoulders are even with the ends of Bud’s short sleeves.  In the bottom one, they’re more even with the bottom of Bud’s chin.  Big difference.  And in neither case -- at the very top, or at the bottom here, is Stan far enough in the foreground compared to Bud for perspective to matter that much.)

And this, kids, is why you can’t use any one single scene or even any one frame in a scene to make a case for canonical height information.

you know Bud is actually sort of terrifyingly large when you think about it

I’ve been thinking this through this ENTIRE sequence.

And I know that in the past, some folks have theorized that it’s meant to indicate that the Stans are unusually short (below average height).  I don’t want to take that headcanon from anyone, but I mostly have a feeling that the extreme scale difference here is more about presenting Bud as intimidating (and just, unusually large).

(The show isn’t THAT consistent about scale, so that’s why I don’t take the suggested scale here as being meant to convey absolute information. But it sure does convey a mood!)
