It’s time for Dungeons Dungeons and More Dungeons for @forduary ! Enjoy this fluffy contribution! (Also below the cut if you’d rather read it here)

No matter what Ford does, it seems like the Multiverse is doing everything it can to keep him from playing another game of DD & More D.

“I cast my final Spell of Discombobulation!” Ford said, and rolled his 38 sided die, crossing his fingers as he watched it move across the board. It stopped right in front of Dipper’s screen, and he looked at his great-nephew’s face.

I will never fucking stop thinking about that scene in Scary-oke when Stan is talking about dipper and how he’s stubborn and “doesn’t know what he’s getting into” and then looks at his reflection of himself in Ford’s journal and says “sorta like me, I suppose,” because there’s SO FUCKING MUCH to unpack there. And I’m about to do so bc it makes me lose my mind. (This is NOT gonna be articulated well </3)

Right off the bat, I wanna point out how this scene is set up anyway. (And I know it’s like this because it’s supposed to be a little inner monologue type thing bc it’s a scene in a tv show but...... the possible reasoning behind it, that wouldn’t be far-fetched considering some other stuff, Hurts <3) He fiddles with some buttons and speaks what’s on his mind out loud, and then he picks up the journal just to look at it before setting it back down. Considering other scenes, (the “can it, poindexter,” later when he’s working on the portal again after reading some of Stanford’s warnings, “[i was] talking to my reflection...” in Legend Of The Gobblewonker, and then all the other instances of Stan talking to himself) he’s talking to Ford. That’s all, self-explanatory, ouch, next point.

When you first watch this scene, Stan going “sorta like me, I suppose” in relation to Dipper being stubborn just sounds like he’s talking about how he’s spent 30 years working on this project (aka the portal). But also, if you include the part where he says Dipper has no clue what he’s getting into, it’s VERY reminiscent of Stan’s arrival in Gravity Falls and the fight with Ford that followed. Because Stan 1) clearly had no clue what he was getting into, specifically with the supernatural and Ford’s situation, when he went to see his brother for the first time in 10 years; and 2) stubbornly refused to listen to Ford’s plan for the journals, causing the fight that got him sucked into the portal. And, on the other hand, Dipper 1) doesn’t know what he’s doing by trying to get the government involved with all the weird stuff in Gravity Falls; and 2) stubbornly refuses to listen to Stan about not actively going out and searching for said weirdness. It had always been visbily set up to show the similarities between Stan and Dipper (like the scenes we get in Dreamscapers, etc.) but when you look back on it there’s WAY more to it than just Oh they’re both stubborn.

That’s it, that’s all. :) Scary-oke is such a great episode.
