feels worth mentioning as a long time opponent of the 21st century hawkish nature of Israeli politics that… we’ve seen a lot of comparisons between the U.S. and Israel when it comes to politics, and many are worth pondering, but the U.S. has simply never ever had anything like the second intifada to push the civilian populace into hard right hawkish politics. There’s simply no comparison.) the U.S. got here on their own with the vague image of a violent criminal invader, not an actual reality of hundreds of civilian deaths from targeted bombings on buses and in pizza shops and public arenas. This is not to let either the government of the state of Israel NOR the U.S. off the hook but it IS to say that I don’t think there’s a single thing inherently more peaceful about Americans than Israelis (or any other country that’s had a sharp right wing political swing) and I cannot imagine the kind of fascist hellhole the U.S. would be with even a quarter of the targeted political violence experienced in IL

It's insanely sad to read post after post of gentiles talking about how at least we all have each other and all we can do now is draw strength from our queer and leftist communities bc Jews literally cannot do this. Like you all completely and so utterly turned your backs on Jews this year and we have no one. Except other Jews. Who make up 2% of the American population. It's so great for you all that you can hold hands and sing Kumbaya but you made supporting Hamas and retweeting twitter funny men with literal terrorist hate symbols in their usernames normal. So no some of us cannot draw strength from the queer and leftist communities. What I keep seeing is black creators talking about how they’re alone because other groups did not show up for Harris. Not white women. Not Latin men. Not Arabs. Not Asians. Not Christians or Muslims.

You know who did show up?

It is absolutely fucking insane to me that the basic, entirely reasonable, and humanistic position of "Israelis are human beings who deserve not to be slaughtered mercilessly and raped so viciously their bodies are left with broken pelvises" is so entirely controversial that I'm constantly labeled 'genocidal' for holding to it.

The modern state of Israel exists BECAUSE of antisemitism, it is not the SOURCE of antisemitism. Antisemitism is thousands of years older than the modern state of Israel.

Feminism exists BECAUSE of sexism and misogyny, it is not the SOURCE of those things.
