it haunts me every goddamn day that Bela died letting Dean believe she killed her parents for money and spent her last moments letting him spew his vindictive holier-than-thou bile at her bc she thought she Deserved it (after paralleling him for a season!!!) bc she committed the cardinal sin of Supernatural-world and desecrated the sanctity of the Family Unit and then at the last possible second Kripke's like btw she did it bc her Father (!) was sexually abusing her. and she didn't even pull the trigger she was just talked into it by a demon when she was 14 years old!!!!! and she just couldn't bring herself to tell them. those righteous men. monster-hunters. justice-bringers. but what do you do if your Father (!!!) is the monster. who do you run to who can you tell. 'you wouldn't understand. no one did. never mind.' and they never find out they just never. find out. never mind all the times she looked Dean in the eyes and said you can't judge me, we are the same. he never has to think about or interrogate THAT again. the idea of the Father (!!!!!) as a sexual threat just hangs outside the narrative unsaid and unsayable. oh well looks like that arc is wrapped up . now Bela's in hell. forever. ok. jesus fucking christ.

i think we need to start assigning driving sins to spn characters. sam sits too close to the steering wheel. cas stops at yield signs. dean speeds and doesn’t use his turn signal. claire speeds and tailgates but if someone tailgates her she brake-checks them. eileen has a lead foot but she will slam the brakes at yellow lights. sam offered to drive her car once and only once because he considers himself inured to scary drivers due to dean (and john probably) but eileen makes him feel like he’s going to barf. charlie once paid 400$ for an oil change (dean nearly blacked out from anger when she told him). mary gets her windows illegally tinted and runs stop signs. jack is perfect at driving but he tried to verbatim jedi mind trick the first tollbooth worker he encountered (did not work) because he didn’t have cash.

rufus and bobby combined have warrants out for their aliases arrest in each of the contiguous 48 states for unpaid traffic and parking tickets. they were very subtly and silently competing to see who would get more states but they tied perfectly.

alex has ants in her car (parks under a tree at work and keeps forgetting to deal with this). patience drives exactly at the speed limit at all times but is somehow never late which pisses claire off ssoooooo bad. donna pays for premium fuel just in case it does something. jody has 15 years of insurance coverage paperwork in her glove box. she does not ever remove the old stuff.

bela sells her cars instead of taking them to the shop. she’s never had a car repaired. she just gets a new one. rowena thinks driving is beneath her. crowley pretends to think this but he would’ve loved driving a gay little cabriolet if not for teleportation.

i love that he was so deep in his grief he had no time to question why his crossroad demon was a man

Dean Winchester: caps lock ON

kinda wish the show had explicitly addressed more that dean’s leather jacket was john’s. because dean picks up out of john’s abandoned motel room in the pilot and is so nonchalant about it but like, that’s John’s Coat. did dean wear it all the time already? had he been waiting to get his hands on it? we see high school dean wear it in a flashback. did he steal it out of john’s duffle? did john leave it behind on a hunt? we never actually see john wearing the coat in flashbacks. did he even like it? it’s Dad’s Coat but did john even like it? was he mad about dean wearing it? was he proud? did he lend dean the coat as a reward for a job well done? was it one of those items of clothing that are your parent’s but you steal it so many times they just accept that it’s kind of yours, too?

and then. in seasons 1-2. the complete emotional devastation that would have been caused by john saying “you haven’t earned that coat yet” or even a much simpler and less direct “it’s still too big on you” or even, really, “i was looking for that coat. i’ll be taking it back, now.” (brief tangent but imagine. dean takes the coat. john asks for it back. john dies. dean takes the coat again) on the other hand, the immediate joy but internal conflict of john praising him, “it looks better on you” or “you’ve grown into that thing” because it’s All Dean Wants but is it? bonus points for a sam reaction shot. extra bonus points if it’s actually azazel trying to trick him. 

like we all know it’s john’s coat, they show that in the show, but they never address what it means for dean to pick it up and carry it with him, taking all john’s baggage with it (except the “your car? that’s dad’s. your favorite leather jacket? dad’s. your music? dad’s.” dream a little dream of me speech which is SO GOOD but. like most of that speech. ends up being largely ignored)
