I think you should 100% look into Shirley Jackson. She was writing in an era where good, well-behaved housewives didn’t do that and got locked up and given shock therapy if they tried. On a more contemporary note you might try Sarah Kane (4.48 Psychosis), but be aware that her work is extremely disturbing/triggering.
