what are some common expressions around the regions? (example: Hold your horses , jump the shark, clean as a whistle stuff like that ) (thank you) !!!
Most Regions:
- “Only beaten magikarp become gyarados” (You must go through hardship to get stronger)
- “An army of magikarp” (Meaning quality>quantity)
Kanto
- “A couple of zubats short of a cave.” (In Unova this is replaced with swoobat) -S
- “Make a tangela out of it” (To twist someone’s words)
Johto:
- “Lead by Jumpluffs” (To mean someone is very spaced out/has no direction)
- “Even Teddiursa have claws” (Refering to a Teddiursa’s sweet paws, meaning even kind people can fight back)
Hoenn:
- “Straighter than a linoone”, related: “Straight as a Zigzagoon”. Meaning “very on topic”, or in the case of the second phrase, very wishy washy. Of course, a lot of non-straight people like to use this phrase.
- “An evolving Vigoroth” (Someone who pretends to work hard, but is actually slacking off)
- “Big enough for a Wailord” (A phrase often used to describe anything from Unova, basically anything unecessarily big like a building or food.)
Sinnoh:
- “Search for a shiny garchomp” (to mean a situaion where one makes a big deal out of something that makes no difference)
- “Another combee in a hive” (One of many)
Unova:
- “A ferrothorn in a furnace” (Someone who’s in deep trouble)
- “Don’t make wheels out of whirlipedes” (Don’t try and control something stronger than you)
Kalos:
- “Whispered in front of Noibats” (A very obvious secret)
- “An Inkay knocked over evolves” (Someone who seems lost/silly might actually have the right idea.)
Alola:
- “Wearing Salandit perfume” (Someone who’s manipulative)
- “Like waking a Komala” (Something that’s nearly impossible without upsetting someone)
