ppl talk abt dissociation/derealization/depersonalization like its a huge scary thing that blindsided them in their teens and its kind of hard to empathize with because honestly? i’ve never felt real. nothing has ever felt real. those feelings or lack thereof in some cases is just..... normal to me. comforting mostly, occasionally unsettling, but honestly my whole life has felt like being stuck in a weird movie from afar. a very boring movie, admittedly, but the point is its never felt “real” not even when extremely good or bad things have happened. idk its just something that i havent really seen ppl talk about? does anyone understand?
ppl always talk about how david lynch’s films and stuff are so ~weird~ and “mystical” but honestly? the first time i watched one of his works (twin peaks) it felt like coming home. the editing and dreamlike sequences match up almost literally to the way i experience life/perceive reality
