Lancelot and Merlin is the healthiest relationship on the show. Seeing Merlin so unafraid to be around Lancelot and be able to show his true self is a beautiful thing. He even hid stuff from Gaius all the time. When Merlin was with Lancelot, it always seemed like that huge load on his shoulders disappeared. This friendship was so refreshing.
Lancelot accepted every part of him and he died for him. Lancelot didn't want Merlin to sacrifice his life for Arthur so he chose to take his place. HE DID IT FOR HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH MERLIN AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES HIS DEATH SO MUCH WORSE.

can't get over lancelot's death. like this man is in front of the veil, ready to end all the suffering that the dorocha had caused everyone, and he still took that moment to look back at merlin because he wanted his face to be the last thing he ever saw. like
he COULD'VE charged right into that veil. he could've ended it all within moments. but he chose to take one last look at the man he was dying for. one last look for the road i'm going to bite something

God i can’t get over how proud merlin looks showing off his magic to Lancelot . this is the only person he can actually share the magic he does with , not even big things like raining hell’s fury on an army , no the small things like that , small things which make merlin himself because being magic incarnate means that magic is there in every little thing he does . Just look at him , how his eyes look happy and vulnerable and so open because finally for a little moment he gets to show someone who he really is .
Merlin was so robbed . He deserved better , he deserved to see that look of pride and trust that he’s getting from lance from Arthur too . He deserved to be able to do silly insignificant things like that to have Arthur look at him like he hung the moon and the stars .
Merlin and Lancelot are everything Merlin and Arthur should have been (and i'm a Merthur fan. They are my favorite relationship). Or they are everything Merlin and Arthur should have become.
Their relationship is founded on mutual respect, trust, and support—Merlin is more honest and open and himself with Lancelot than he is with anyone else. There are no expectations, no pressure about Merlin’s ~destiny.~ Lancelot cared about Merlin before he knew about his magic, and his opinion didn’t change at all once he found out. He already respected him for who he was as a person.
Merlin has such a vibrant, enlivening effect on people, i think just about anyone would be happy with him. he brings out the best in so many of the people he meets, makes them feel trusted, valuable, worthwhile…but in canon, Lancelot is the only one who is just as good for Merlin in return.
