In season 5 Arthur and Gwen (the RULERS of Camelot) have been married for 3 years and have no children. They have no heirs.

You know, i'm grateful that Merlin is not an HBO Original Series, because i don't think that Camelot would have accepted Gwen as a Queen. Especially after Arthur's death.
