The fact that Merlin just instantly decides to pack up and leave Camelot with Freya is crazy OVERLOOKED. There isn’t any better example of how desperate Merlin is to be known and loved. To be free.

He finds a person he thinks he can be honest and safe with, a person LIKE HIM, he is immediately ready to ditch literally everything and everyone in Camelot to get back to a feeling he never thought he would have.

For once he was thinking about HIMSELF, not about destiny, Albion or even Arthur. He was happy. Both him and Freya were happy.

All Merlin truly wants in this world is to be known and loved. To be happy and free. He thinks he sees a chance and damn, he DESERVES IT.

We deserved this Merlin in Season 5. We were close to having this Merlin back when Arthur said  “I don’t want you to change. I want you…to always be you”.

As much as I love everyone on the show (except Agravaine, sorry!), the death grip that Merlin has on me is wild.

Having a young Merlin really was an interesting take because when we have seen old Merlin in film/telly/books, he is already really old, seen so much and very used to everything. It's fascinating and yet sad to watch a young Merlin go from a fresh-faced naive care free boy to learning about the cruel world, hard choices and loss he has to suffer through, and watch it slowly change him. And yet he still remained a kind/good person in his heart. Immortality is not his blessing, its a curse.

Arthur, Morgana, Gwaine, Lancelot, Gwen etc have a special place in my heart too, right next to Merlin, but Merlin will always be my boy <3
