Vessel
Did anyone else read that in the voice from the old Star Trek, or was it just me?
After some brilliant and beautifully haunting games recently (Limbo, Monument Valley) Vessel carries on the fine torch of indie puzzle platformer, laced with steampunk elegance.
It’s fairly intuitive as these games go, and no where near as cruel as limbo in terms of the creative and gruesome ways to die.
The soundtrack for me is possibly one of the best features, scored beautifully by Jon Hopkins, the haunting piano electronica make it a really pleasing game to watch someone else play.
If you’ve yet to try any indie games on the Playstation 3 (or indeed Mac & Windows) - you could do much worse than giving your indie cherry to Vessel.
Paris, 20 November 1903: the ghostly form of an airship floats past an equally ghostly Eiffel Tower, before a very solid crowd of completely entranced spectators. It is Le Jaune, ‘The Yellow’, the first of the successful Lebaudy series of French semi-rigid airships.
