I just went over this on Discord, but I wanna make a public post here too.

The Rooters Arc in Omniverse

The thing that really frustrates me about the Rooters arc is they could have made it 100% better just by making DEVIN LEVIN the leader of the Rooters instead of Servantis.

Like, Devin is a real person. Devin is alive. Devin faked his death that day on the ship with Max. Ragnarok was still in on it. Ragnarok is also a Rooter. But Devin never died, because Devin Levin is the ring leader of the Rooters!

Servantis is still there and one of the Rooters. But Servantis is a red herring, a puppet leader. The guy Devin sets up as the one the heroes should focus on while he controls things from behind the scenes.

Instead of teleporting into Plumbers headquarters in "Rooters of All Evil" in and being all like "we're here to arrest Kevin for no reason" it could have been "we need Kevin, he's the only one who can help his father!" And Kevin would have just gone with them. No questions asked. Just been like "MY FATHER IS ALIVE!" and been first though the projector.

Then it turns out the "help" his father needed was murdering Ben.

This is the best exchange I’ve ever had over ff.n private message. The whole conversation this clip came from was really long and basically boils down to “the Rooters ret-con was too much work on Servantis’ part to be plausible”. But I prefer to think of Servantis as a shit-posting fan fic author who writes RPF about Osmosians, and then posts his fic on the Plumbers database instead of, like, a fan fiction hosting site. Thus tricking even the Great Thinker Asmuth into believing that Osmosians were never a race.

What would it happen if the Rooters didn't exist? I knew that Omniverse ruined everything in Kevin's life with the Rooters.

That’s a good question, and I actually have 2 answers for it.

1.) If the Rooters were never created by the production team, Kevin would have remained an alien. Osmosians would have continued to be a species, and Osmos V would have continued to be a real planet. Perhaps Ben and Team could have even visited Osmos V for a mission or something and we could have seen what Osmosians from the fatherland are really like. Maybe we could have even met some of Kevin’s extended relatives on Devin’s side. That would have been a real treat for me!

2.) In-Universe, if the Rooters division of the Plumbers was never created, Kevin probably would have remained a villain and never joined the Team or become a good guy. Or, he might have started a redemption arc much later in his life, and he would not be at the same point we see him at when he’s 16-18. Either that, or he would have just died in the Null Void. Remember: Kevin first met the Rooters when they saved him from being attacked by a number of Null Void Vulpimancers. It’s very possible that 11-year-old Kevin might never have been able to fend off that attack on his own and would have died.

...

In the end, we’ll never know for sure. That continuity of Ben 10 is over and in the Reboot, Kevin is very different from Classic Cont. Kevin. (I still love him though.)

I should do a fix-it fic or a re-write of the Rooters Arc from Ben 10 Omniverse.

Osmosians will be aliens.

Kevin will have never been a Rooter.

But Devin would be.

My re-write would hinge on Devin’s death being faked and being with the Rooters. I haven’t decided yet if Devin would be a card carrying member, or a prisoner forced into helping them. But Devin will be a real person that exists and he’ll be alive.

Not sure if it would be a “rescue daddy” type story where Kevin (along with Ben and Team) would have to rescue Devin from Servantis. Or if Devin would not only work for the Rooters but be a co-leader with Servantis and it would be a “join the dark side” story for Kevin.

But Osmosians will be real aliens, Kevin would be half-Osmosian, and Devin will be real and alive.

Kevin Ethan Leven’s Wack Storyline

After rewatching Ben 10 and Ben 10: Alien Force (and Ultimate Alien but shhhh) I’m dead confused on Keven Levin’s timeline

Cuz like, it’s all cannon information but it doesn’t add up.

In Ben 10 (2005) Kevin straight up says his family left him because he was a ‘freak.’ and he lived in an abandoned subway tunnel…

His exact words where “Long gone! There weren’t to thrilled having a freak for a son. But it just means I don’t answer to nobody.”

But in Ben 10: Alien Force

Kevin says his dad was a Plummer and that’s where he got his Plummer badge. He even ended the episode saying he was gonna show his mom hes an official Plummer.

Like umm didn’t she abandon you????

Also….

Devin Leven, Kevin’s dad, also has the second powers Kevin does????

Also props for keeping the rhyming thing going. (Kevin’s son also named Devlin if you didn’t know)

(speaking of rhyming it’s also canon that Ben named his son Kenny/Ken after his cousin Ken, Gwen’s older brother)

Once you reach Omniverse, the inconsistency will make sense

Well, no, not really.

Servantis’ explanation does seem to make the inconsistencies make sense on the surface. But then you have to remember everyone from Kevin’s early childhood that Servantis had to implant false memories in. It couldn’t have been just Max.

For Servantis’ explanation to work, he had to also track down Mrs. Levin and alter her memories to make her believe she was once married to an alien and that’s why her son has weed powers. Unless the Mrs. Levin we met in Alien Force was another Rooters agent that was just placed there as Kevin’s handler and they’re not related at all.

And then there’s Kevin’s step father, Harvey Hackett, that we meet in Ultimate Alien. Harvey and Kevin’s mother are already divorced by the time we meet him but he was still apparently enough of a “father figure” to Kevin back when he was a small child for Gwen to feel the need to bring him in on the Ultimate Kevin fiasco. Is Harvey another Rooters agent installed by Servantis? But how would Servantis know to add another agent that was only peripherally associated with his core project and install him so completely that Gwen would think to seek him out? Why even create an agent that had to be sought out in the first place? But then, if he wasn’t an agent, why go though all the trouble of tracking down this one rando ex-husband of Kevin’s mother to implant false memories in him?

The Omniverse retcons don’t make Kevin’s life story make any more sense. It just shifts the non-sense to other areas.

@coconfetti has outdone themselves this time! <3 Omg!

Gwendolyn looking at Kevin’s picture on the Null Void’s “Most Wanted” poster wall.

Later, Kevin’s poster is crossed out and Gwendolyn’s not there because Kevin is a good guy again and they’re out celebrating his rehabilitation together.

Lord help me, I’m back on my Ben 10 bullshit.

The long awaited next installment of “Elevator Monologue”! I wanna tell everyone to go read it right away! But, before you do...

please note the tags:

Make sure this is the sort of thing you want to read before you become invested. The first chapter is clean. But the rest of the fic will not remain so clean...

Spoiler for “Elevator Monolauge”

Its called “Elevator Monologue” because at some point in the story (maybe in a flashback, maybe in the main timeline -that part’s still up in the air) Servantis is gonna be standing in an elevator with Kevin and talking at him with one of his brainwashy speeches and the lines of the speech are gonna -verbatim- be the titles of the fics in the series.

“If it can’t break out of its shell, a chick will died before its ever even born.”

(I also feel I should mention that I originally came up with the idea for this fic while getting high with @kyoyamacat and watching Revolutionary Girl Utena.)

One day, I would like to do an Eva AU with the Ben 10 characters.

…I’m just not sure how to go about it…

But I guarantee you all, in addition to this guy:

I will also be using this asshole:

I’m not quite sure how yet. But I get very strong Gendo-energy from Servants.

“Shut up and get in the robot, Kevin!”

So, I’m still thinking about this AU.

I’ve been talking to @kyoyamacat about it and she thinks I should make it a Devlin fic. Apparently, Devlin had Big Shinji Energy.

image

“Why won’t you love me, daddy!?”

Well, she’s not wrong. And of the fics in the Ben 10 fandom that I have actually finished, they have all be Devlin fics, so clearly I’m better at writing Devlin than I am Kevin.

The thing is... Devlin might have Big Shinji Energy, but Servantis really does have Big Gendo Energy, and if Servantis is Gendo and Kevin is Shinji, then the rest of the Eva pilots can be the Amalgams. And I feel that fits pretty well. A group of kids being manipulated and used by an older man who’s lost all empathy.

Except for Kowaru. Kowaru will be Ben for the big gay. Also, so Kevin 11 can finally kill Ben 10.

But then, Kyoyamacat had to go and say this:

image

Well fuck me in the feels!

(Kyoyama and I both headcanon that Gwen is Devlin’s mother.)

So, if I ever DO write this AU (which I’ll probably never get around to it, but just in case I do, you have been warned) it’s gonna be a daddy angst bonanza! Featuring an unloved Devlin striving to earn the affection of Kevin who’s given up all his humanity after Gwen -more or less- merged with a Mutant To’kustar!

Good thing nobody reads my fics anyway!

OC Spotlight: Aggrenna

Aggrenna is the eldest child of Aggregor and a Null Void settler he met after his defeat at the Forge of Creation. At the time of her birth, Aggreggor had not yet crossed paths again with Servantis and his disgraced Rooters, so Aggregor still thought he was an alien, and that “Osmosian” was a complete race and not just a weird mutation.

Aggrenna, however, is NOT an Osmosian.

She has no significant powers of her own. Cannot absorb things, shape-shift, or mutate her form. Needless to say, at the time, Aggregor was super confused (possibly suspicious and angry, too, I haven’t decided on that detail of the backstory).

But then he crossed paths with Servantis and it was revealed to him that Osmosians weren’t aliens. “Osmosian” powers came from a unique mutation and Aggrenna just hadn’t inherited the mutation. Servantis was also very shocked to learn that Aggregor was able to breed at all seeing as how he wasn’t naturally born himself, but an artificially created being created by Servantis in an attempt to try and reproduce something like Kevin.

All of this happened when Aggrenna was too young to remember, of course.

As the years past, Aggregor and his mate had two other children, the last of which she died giving birth to. Aggregor, whom was truly in love with his mate, was thrown into a paralyzing depression, and Aggrenna had to step up and make sure her younger siblings were taken care of. She made a formula for her younger brother by mixing animal fat with blue milk and the broth of boiled vegetables. She made sure her younger sister ate right and always had clean cloths. She changed diapers and washed bedding, and she never complained. But the entire time, she let a quiet resentment fester. Aggregor was the actual parent, he should have been the one doing these things. She should have been enjoying her childhood.

Needless to say, the moment her siblings were old enough to start doing things for themselves, she taught them how to take care of their own food, laundry, and chores.

To spite her resentment towards Aggregor, Aggrenna respects him because he is her father and he did teach her spear fighting and how to survive the Null Void on her own. But she wouldn’t cry very much if he were to be killed unexpectedly.

As far as appearance goes, she mostly resembles a female Aggregor. Except her hands and feet are that of a Null Void Settler.

Color-wise she inherited her mother’s blue skin. But she prefers to dress in warm colors like Aggregor. Aggrenna favors a yellow short-robe for a top with pants the same color as Aggregor’s robe from Ultimate Alien.
