Looking at some Vintage and Classics figures today, came across Battle Armor Skeletor yet again, but this time I noticed something. There's a bat on the chest, but it's not a Horde Bat. It's a design I can't recall seeing anywhere else in MOTU, besides Classics Battle Armor Faker anyway. But I have to wonder what that specific bat represents. Is Skele just trying to be spooky, invoke that bat god I cannot recall the name of atm? 1/2
Just so everyone know, this is the bat Anon is referring to:
It could be that Skeletor just likes bats. In the art book for Revelation, there's a blurb about how Evil-Lyn's bat-themed Sorceress costume is really just the power Skeletor gave her filtered through his perceptions of her, and has no connection to Horokoth or the Horde at all. So maybe in-universe it is that.
But, out of universe, I think it's much, much simpler than that.
Masters of the Universe if a cluster-f*ck. In the early days of the franchise, the creators were literally just making shit up with no thought to consistency or extended story or character arcs. Also, the Battle Armor figures (I'm pretty sure) were designed before Hordak was invented, so the bat on Skeletor's Battle Armor would pre-date the Evil Horde.
Honestly, I don't think the symbols have any deeper meaning other than just "Ooooo, spooky, scary, bad guy"
However, if you would like to come up with your own ideas and headcanons for what they symbols mean, you're more than welcome too! And, in fact, you should! Play with your ideas like you would play with the toys. That is the purpose of Masters of the Universe.
Never forget what the Head Producer for Mattel Creations said:
Why is it "Wings of Horakoth" instead of "Wings of Horokoth"? Why the different spelling of the Horde bat goddess?
This is not something I would know.
All I can guess is that different people are writing this one and so different writers might use different spellings for made-up words like "Horokoth/Horakoth".
What's the difference between Wings of Horokoth (Horakoth?) and Wings of Hordak?
As far as I can tell, there is no difference. They use the exact same stock animation, and it sounds like Evil-Lyn is still saying "Horakoth". Its most likely a fault in the subtitles that says "Hordak" instead.
People with good hearing, please confirm!
“I don’t even like bats”
Did she really have to call horkoth before shouting that? I want to give dad bad hug
Also do you consider Horakoth and Kordak the same individual or are they different?
In the comics, Horokoth is a goddess. She is the patron goddess of Hordak.
In my discord server (very recently) there has been some discussion that maybe "horokoth" or "horokothian" could be Hordak's species instead of their goddess.
Okay, okay, okay-
So much happened in the final season that I have thoughts on! But there's only one detail I really, really, really wanna talk about right now.
Re: Hordak and Lyn
(It's spoilers, so under the cut.)
The Faceless One’s power also makes me wonder about Evil-Lyn’s potential. Could she also have this type of control? I just remember her wiping out all those Snakemen in the comics and wonder what she could really do if she let loose.
When her character was first introduced back in the 80s, Evil-Lyn was called the "Evil Goddess". I would not be surprised if 200X was planning to eventually make Evil-Lyn more powerful than the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull.
Maybe Lyn would've been the final boss after Hordak!
Since 200X was cancelled without being completed all things are possible.

The other Day, I saw a Leak-Photo of a Sorceress of Horokoth (Evil-lyn) Actionfigure for the Masterverse Toyline on the Internet. I'm sure what I've seen is True, but we'll find out soon as new MOTU Actionfigures come out!
OMG! <3 Share the pic! Share the pic!
I would buy 2 of her! One to keep in the box in mint condition and the other to take out and play with!
what if the reason the council refused to help Nick save baby Lynn is because they saw a future where she would bring the end of Eternia ?
That's dark. But I like the drama of it.
@basenji18 also has a headcanon that King Hiss kidnapped Lyn in the first place because he heard a prophesy that a "child of the council" would bring about his downfall.
It might be interesting to read a fic where both predictions are in play, and Lyn is trying desperately to struggle against her destiny, but she doesn't know which destiny to deny. Defeat Hiss, save Eternia? Become Sorceress of Horokoth, destroy Eternia.
I love it!
Fun fact in the animal world Bats are considered amazing mothers, some baby bats actually can cling to their mother while they're flying. Also considering Evil-ynn has a bat motiff do what you want with this info
This is good info.
Mama Horokoth <3
Continuation of that Ram in the Vision ask. Now this being the first time I've watched Revelations since finding those info and theory posts about the Gods/Aspects of God. I find it very interesting that we did not see a Bat at any point during that vision. Makes me wonder, if we get future parts, if we'll see that vision again, this time starting at an earlier point and/or from a different perspective, to see how the Bat plays in.
I also thought that was weird. Especially since they gave Lyn a bat look as the sorceress, which said to me "Sorceress of Horokoth". But then the visions of the goddess(es) didn't feature a bat at all!
My current working theory is that Horokoth will not be a native goddess, but a deity foreign to Eternia. Horokoth, in the comics, was Hordak's patron deity and the goddess of the Horde, so maybe they'll introduce Horokoth when the Horde lands on Eternia in season 2.
Skeletor used to work for Hordak and maybe he at one time worshipped Horokoth, or maybe it just made that much of an impression on him that that's what his vision of a "goddess sorceress" is, and that's why when he made Evil-Lyn the Sorceress of Grayskull, he made her costume bat-like.
Who wants porn between an obscure character no one cares about and an OC?
Because I got ya porn between an obscure character no one cares about and an OC!
Part of my "the Faceless One was a member of the Horde before he was cursed" AU.
As promised, King Nikolas travels to Horde Territory to reaffirm Zalesia's allegiance to the Horde. The Sorceress of Horokoth is very happy to see Nick, and makes good on her promise from their last meeting to show him a bath.
Faceless One/OC
Based off my AU idea of the Faceless One never being a member of the Council of Wisdom and was instead a Lord in the Horde and Evil-Lyn's mother was the previous Sorceress of Horokoth.
This is their meet-cute.
MotU AU Idea:
King Nikolas was a memeber of the Horde during the Great Wars, and not associated with the Council of Wisdom in any way. His wife/lover/baby-mama was the Sorceress of Horokoth of that time.
After Grayskull defeated Hordak, Nick was cursed to become the Faceless One as punishment for taking the Horde's side in the conflict. The Faceless One learned his lesson and that's why he helps He-Man in the present, but Evil-Lyn didn't learn and she follows in her mother's footsteps first joining Skeletor, then Hordak and becoming the Sorceress of Horokoth just like dear mommy.
I feel like this would fix a lot of the discrepancies in their characters.
According to the Faceless One's card back that came with his action figure, he raised Evil-Lyn alone in Zalesia. Which means that Lyn would have had no other influences on her until she was already an adult and her personality and beliefs already formed. It doesn't make sense for her to be as stubbornly "evil" as she is if she was raised by a good person without any negative influences.
But if Nick wasn't a good and altruistic person, if he was a high ranking Lord of the Horde and his late wife was a Horde Priestess, then Lyn would have more motivation to join the bad guys. Since her mother is dead and she has no memories of her, joining Skeletor, then Hordak and becoming the Sorceress of Horokoth would be a way for Evil-Lyn to "get to know her mother".
Meanwhile, the Faceless One helping He-Man isn't because he's a genuinely good person, its because he's attoning for his crimes in the hopes of his curse one day being lifted.
I think it makes total sense!
