House of the Dragons fans really saying with their whole chests how horrible team black is and how none of them are close as a family when that was a choice made by the showrunners to slim down the years these events took place over, that they were constantly together and hanging out, Laena and Rhaenyra being besties slash implied to be together - use of the word fond - and every Velaryon openly and proudly claiming the 3 Velaryon boys as part of the family. Laenor killed by a lover rather than by Rhaenyra and Daemon with Rhaenys hating them for killing her son, Laena dying of childbed fever, the child being stillborn or not living long after birth and her dying a sad but not gruesome death of being burned alive by her dragon
Like sure you want to say how horrible the Blacks are and how disjointed they are as a family unit but those were all choices made for the tv show and not what George wrote. Like you can argue that the book was biased but biased has a particular meaning. Look at who they praise and extol virtues of and who they invent wild and defamatory stories about. Alicent got heaps of praise for keeping her figure as opposed to ugly fat Rhaenyra who is clearly evil and not the image of the Mother (where is the Faith central to? who is the prominent family in the Faith of the Seven?) Why is Sara Snow written to make Jacaerys break his betrothal to Baela when there is no evidence of her existing outside of Mushroom’s account? Why is Rhaenyra given a story of multiple illicit encounters before marriage with either Daemon or Ser Criston or Ser Harwin but Alicent bathing Jaehaerys and dressing him, then rumours of her sharing Viserys’ bed causing him to choose her for marriage despite her having no Valyrian heritage or political importance like Laena Velaryon had. It wasn’t that Alicent was somehow free from scandal, it is who is writing the story and the Faith supported Aegon II because he was Hightower blood and kept a woman from inheriting.
The Greens killed Lucerys on a diplomatic mission and kinslayed without provocation. Kinslaying is a BIG DEAL in asoiaf. Aemond should not have killed Lucerys, he was blood, and asoiaf constantly affirms that cursed is the kinslayer. Alicent Hightower advocated for cutting off pieces of Aegon III who was a child, to send a message. She had no deathbed confession that Aegon should inherit over Rhaenyra, she and her co-conspirators simply thought that the issue of succession that they had unsuccessfully hounded Viserys on in life, should be what they wanted and not what the King intended and the Lords of the Realm swore to uphold.
