About

Figured I might be better served making an "About me" pinned post, since I'm not sure how many people actually bother to click through and read my actual "About" page.

Anyway, hi, I'm emiliers. A certified Adult™ (1994). Taiwanese American. Aromantic, asexual, and agender. She/any. I guess politically I'm mostly an anarchist? I'm also an SFF fan, and you can probably convince me to watch/read anything with "SFF featuring a queer character of color".

This Tumblr started as a general fandom blog for anime/manga back in... late 2009? These days, it's mostly politics and social justice stuff. While I'll post about serious topics fairly often, I make a point never to post/reblog any explicit imagery (whether that be graphic depictions of sex or violence).

Probably the most interesting thing I keep around (on Wordpress) is this manga rec list of queer characters. I update it whenever I come across something new I enjoyed.

I also occasionally translate bad Chinese webnovels during my free time, though recently I've put that on hold to follow my true passion -- translating vocal synth songs.

When I'm not either reading manga or gracing the world with silly translations, I'm probably gacha gaming, but I generally try not to talk about that hobby too often except with friends.

I don't have a "DNI" list or anything, but know that I auto-block anyone who has a legitimately harmful ideology. So, no TERFs, SWERFs, white supremacists, exclusionists, tankies, etc.

If you want more information about me, my Carrd has mostly everything relevant.

This is Andrey X, a Jewish Israeli pro-Palestine activist.

I don't know how to describe this video so I'll just write out what he's saying:

That is the beginning of an Israeli settlement. And this is the Palestinian village of Umm al-Hiran. Which is right now under a demolition order, in order to expand the settlement that way.
And we are not in the West Bank. We are in the Naqab desert. Every single Palestinian in that village has an Israeli passport. And yet they're being expelled to make way for a Jewish settlement.
And look at the hills around us. This place is empty. If Israel wants to build a settlement, they can do it anywhere. And yet they choose to do it here. Because the only purpose of that settlement is to expel Palestinians from their land.
This is happen all over the Naqab desert. Currently 14 Palestinian Bedouin communities are under demolition orders. And thousands of people are set to become homeless.
This is the most blatant illustration that Israel is an ethno-nationalist apartheid state. The Palestinians of Umm al-Hiran have the exact same citizenship as the settlers who are about to move into their land. And yet the Palestinians are being ethnically cleansed just because they belong to an ethno-cultural group that the Israeli state wants to suppress as much as possible.

Ending the stigma of drug use will save lives.

“Never Use Alone” is a number you can call when you have no choice but to use when you’re alone.

If you call (800) 484-3731, an operator will answer your call, and ask for your first name, location and whether you have any allergies, or medical conditions. After you’ve given us this information you can go ahead and inject your substance. After you’ve ingested the substance, we will continue communicating with you. If you do not respond after 30-45 seconds, we will notify emergency services of a possible overdose at the location you’ve given us.

We will never shame you, judge you, or preach at you to quit. If you are ready to quit though, we have treatment resources for every state in the US. Regardless if you have insurance, or not. We will do our best to connect you with the help you need. please call. We are on standby.

This seems like a solid and real thing, I did my best to vet them and found their FB: https://www.facebook.com/Neverusealone/

They also seem to help with getting Narcan.

holy shit this can actually save Real Lives like dudes this isn’t a joke and isn’t to be passed off

Never Use Alone doesn’t have an app (yet) but there are two apps that can be used all over the world. One that is available only on iOS last time I checked is The Canary Overdose prevention app and the other is Be Safe by The Brave Coop. They are both very easy to use.

from this reddit thread that has a lot of people talking about the hotline, including sharing their own experiences. additionally, it looks like there are also similar overdose prevention hotlines in other countries now, such as canada and scotland

Not to be a debbie downer but Tim Walz was in the military for 24 years, including during the Iraq war. He called the national guard on protestors following the George Floyd murder. He supports Israel. He's approved an oil pipeline across indigenous lands that break treaties.

It's weird to celebrate a man who goes against all leftist values

Elbit System, a top international arms manufacturer, who's weapons have been found in Israel, is also located in Tim Walz's state. People have protested for him to divest. Nothing.

Anonymous asked:

Hello, I'm a Catholic who recently signed up for Tumblr and I unfortunately feel like I really did not understand what I was getting into with this website. For the last several weeks, I've been subjected to a campaign of internet stalking by a large gang of insidious thugs on this site. And I would brush it off as normal internet trolling, except that they seem to really know a lot about our faith!

The problem started a few weeks ago, when a "Tumblr famous" user known as "midgeonsmidgeon" messaged me. He claims to be the closest living relative of Pope John Paul I, who died after only 33 days on the throne. When a Pope dies, the death must be verified by striking him three times in the head with a silver hammer. According to midgeons, a church historian has recently examined the hammer used on John Paul I and learned it was only 87% silver. Per the canon laws of 1919, the hammer must be at least 90% silver to be considered true silver. Because of this and other "irregularities" regarding the death, midgeons insists that Pope John Paul I is still LEGALLY alive and still the Pope! And as his closest living heir, this makes midgeonsmidgeon the highest living authority in the Catholic Church until the corpse is exhumed and struck with the correct hammer!

Hi, I regret to inform you that you've been misinformed. There are no canon laws of 1919. In fact, the closest is the 1917 Code of Canon Law, which is no longer in effect since it's been superseded by the 1983 Code of Canon Law.

I would recommend brushing up a bit more on your ecclesiastical history before sending asks like this with information that's easily debunked by a quick wikipedia search. You should probably attend your Sunday classes more diligently (or lodge a complaint to your instructors for not teaching you such basic information). Just a friendly tip!

Also, like, I'm sorry but if you've set up a free shelter, and people refuse to go because sleeping on the sidewalk under a freeway bridge is more pleasant, that's fucking on you, that's not on them.

You really can't compete with sleeping under the overpass so you are going to force people into shelter?

Unspeakably cruel and stupid.

Most Correct Take on this subject.

Avatar
blogofex

AIUI the most common reason for this is that most shelters don't let you do drugs while at the shelter. If someone prefers doing drugs to sleeping in a bed is that the shelter's fault?

Reasons I have heard from local homeless about why they won't go to shelters include:

  • Can't bring your dog
  • Can't bring your prescribed medications
  • Can't sleep due to noise, light, or forced schedule
  • Fleas, bedbugs, and other infestations
  • More likely to get in a fight than when living on the street
  • More likely to get stolen from than when living on the street
  • Not enough space for personal belongings
  • Curfews that don't match work schedules
  • Why bother when there's a monthslong waitlist to get into the shelter, and then you get evicted from the shelter after a week, because you arrived two minutes after curfew, because the bus was late?
  • Requirement to hold down a job
  • Required to do daytime "volunteer" work at the shelter, preventing job-searching or actual job work
  • Required to attend Christian services, as often as twice daily

Those last two in particular were listed as reasons that people don't use the single available shelter in Grants Pass.

Avatar
dragontatoes

also, yeah, it is the shelter's fault if someone chooses sleeping outside over dealing with any/all of the above while also going through drug withdrawals. The average adult doesn't want to go a day without coffee, and yet can't understand why the immensely painful/dangerous ordeal of quitting hard drugs cold turkey is a turnoff from a bed in a shelter. Almost anyone would pick their tent on the sidewalk to avoid that experience. Put a damn safe injection site in your shelter.

Avatar
justslowdown

I was waiting for that last addition... like. OK, if that IS why they choose not to sleep at a shelter, they aren't "preferring doing drugs to sleeping in a bed." What a fucked up, compassionless take.

mfers will say "im against book banning in schools and libraries!" and then turn around and say ao3 needs to be censored

The people arguing to ban and/or remove content from Ao3 are completely and utterly convinced that censorship is different when they do it.

Avatar
elumish

I am probably about to step on a hornet's nest right now, but AO3 literally already has content bans/removal policies.

For example, AO3 has policies to remove plagiarized work, to remove threatening content or content that is part of a larger pattern of harassment, to remove illegal content, to remove content that isn't fanwork, to remove content that shares personal/non-public information without the individual's permission.

OTW has already decided on a series of things that are not permitted on AO3, and I don't see people calling that censorship.

And so when someone argues for disallowing certain content, they aren't arguing for a net new idea on AO3, but a change in existing policy in the Terms of Service.

Now, I'm not broadly advocating for disallowing content. But I always get a little frustrated when I see OP's argument presented without nuance, because what it isn't saying is that this argument is most often levied against people who are advocating for increased anti-racist policies, like End OTW Racism's advocacy for a content policy on abusive (extremely racist and extremely bigoted) content, which they defined as "fanworks that are intentionally used to spread hate and harassment, not those that accidentally invoke racist or other bigoted stereotypes."

Of course, there are other things that people argue to ban--content with incest, content with sexual assault, content with underage sex, etc. These aren't points that I think should be banned, personally, and I would certainly argue against banning them.

But these are not the same, and it's easy to see this if you attempt any sort of good faith effort. And, for myself, I find it hard to take the argument that "updated ToS policies moderating fanworks intentionally being used to spread hate and harassment" is equivalent to "conservative government bans of books about queer or Black characters" as anything other than at best bad faith and at worst flat-out racist.

Content moderation is a real thing--even now, in AO3's own policies--and it is not the same as government censorship.

do you have any recs for readings on black anarchism? i’ve been feeling pretty frustrated with discussions of race & white supremacy in white anarchist texts

Avatar

Sorry I took so long to respond to this. I thought I did.

So disclaimer, I am not sure what you think when you think of Black Anarchist because I am definitely not that person as I think I am more Anarchist than Anarkata. I mean I am definitely pro-punching the police, illegalism, burning down institutions of capital and oppression, prison riots, rioting in general, and all of that crusty white anarchist shit knowing that the police will gladly crucify my black ass. I read Bakunin even though he was an anti-semite, and David Graeber. I am a Black Anarchist who acts like he got the privilege of a white one. However, I do understand the frustration of dealing with white leftists disregarding race so because I feel like I was really late in my response, I am going to list not only black anarchists, but also non-Western Anarchists.

Black Anarchism/Anarkata

I think this one is more of what you are looking for.

I don't think Maroon Shoatz was an anarchist. This was just his critique of the Black Panther Party and what led to their ruin.

Also for normal contemporary commentary of Black Anarchism, look up @saint-drew on Youtube.

General Non-Western Anarchism

Asian and Pacific Anarchism

I love this woman. So this is a diary of an anarchist Japanese woman living in 20th Century Japan. She plotted to kill the emperor. She was dope as fuck. I am basing one of my characters of my book off of Kaneko's nihilist philosophy.

Middle East and North Africa

Latin and Caribbean Anarchism

I personally call this the "White Anarchists, Shut the Fuck Up" text.

Indigenous North American Anarchism

I think this is enough. Again @anarcblr is an excellent study guide and resource. @effectiveresistance is great as well on finding where the action is.

@effectiveresistance — i would love your additions to this if you would grace me with your insight

So many great ones have already been added. But I can add a couple more.

I also recommend the Indigenous authors Ziq and Gord Hill

I was just talking to Ahmed @90-ghost (alongside Av, who might be reading this, idk if they’d like to be part of this post tho). He has given me permission to write a post about our conversation.

This whole thing has gotten Ahmed to the point where he admits he’s started to hate tumblr after 12 years of being on here. He has over 3k messages in his inbox and can’t handle it right now, his brother and other family members are still in Gaza and he himself doesn’t have the money to help them out. I’ve noticed that donations have slowed among palestinian fundraisers in general, before this whole debacle that a few individuals on this site started. this is anecdotal, but I know Ahmed gets like $30-$50 per week in donations at this point, and that barely makes a dent in his and his family’s needs. Remember that people in Gaza need to pay massively inflated prices for what basic necessities are available right now. I think things are looking pretty dire to the people who would like to flee Gaza but don’t have the money. It already was dire that Egyptian government, working in lockstep with Israel and the west, charges $5k+ to Ghazzawis. Hala Agency, Ibrahim Al-Argani, and the other scumbags running the Egyptian state are all demons and they’ve lined their pockets throughout this genocide. But I digress—it was dire already and now the enthusiastic aid that helped people like Ahmed seems to have run dry.

All that is to say: Ahmed can’t continue to verify peoples’ documents or promote their fundraisers at this stage. He’s privately talked to hundreds of Ghazzawis and looked at their IDs, and he was the only person doing it for a while (a very small handful of other Palestinian users on here were doing it, but they’ve also gotten overwhelmed and stopped). When he was in Gaza, Ahmed was displaced multiple times, left sleeping in tents or on the streets while in active physical danger, starving, forced to drink unsafe water, and often sick. It’s not an exaggeration to say that his body and mind have been pushed to the limit. When he told me he’s depressed all day after doing this work while attracting a ton of negativity, I told him he’s allowed to stop for the sake of his own health, because frankly he needs to focus on his physical recovery. There’s nothing selfish about that, it’s not sustainable for him to be doing this, particularly not when he’s still under the immense stress of his brother and other relatives remaining in Gaza and relying on him for help.

Since I know people will ask: I currently don’t know of anyone on tumblr who still vets fundraisers. Everyone I know of who did has had to stop. I don’t know about the inner workings of Operation Olive Branch, but they seem to be one of a few collectives with enough members to distribute this work. It IS work, and those of us who have tried to do it have done so with a low failure rate (el-shab-hussein and nabulsi’s spreadsheet had over 200 entries and they misidentified a scam as legitimate ONCE). I hope everyone will be more considerate towards the people at collectives like OOB.

This has always been a matter of personal discretion. The vetting process some users tried to implement on here is meant to help people who want to help and accept the risk of offering aid to strangers. If you don’t trust bloggers who’ve been proudly Palestinian on this site for years, that’s up to you—genuinely, it’s fair to think “I don’t know this person and I don’t know what standards they’re operating on.” In the future, anyone who has such concerns should consider asking good-faith questions to the people involved and to converse with them like adults before jumping to accusations, conspiratorial posts, etc.

by the way this is the procedure to get out of gaza

  1. it costs 5k USD per adult and 2.5k USD per child
  2. if you want to raise this money via GOFUNDME it has to be arranged by someone who is NOT living in Palestine because GFM does not release money to Palestine. GFM also verifies every detail so it has to be accurate so you need someone who is out of Palestine and also familiar with the bureaucracy.
  3. once you raise the money one of your FIRST ORDER RELATIVES have to deposit this money IN CASH and IN PERSON at the Cairo offices of a company called hala. this person cannot be a Palestinian male under 40 because they are not allowed to be Egypt without a permit
  4. once you pay the money you have to WAIT for your names to be published by Egyptian military at the Rafah crossing and the you have 24 hours to get out

it is a very long and convoluted process that is impossible for most Palestinians who do not have contacts in other counties. Please please donate to the GFMs you see floating around because they’ve been verified and this is only the first step in an arduous journey. Once in Cairo, Palestinians aren’t allowed to work so they need money for their support also.

If you don't know this already, please try and internalize it: the idea that people join the US military primarily because they are young people at a disadvantage in life coerced into believing it is the most accessible path to upward mobility is not true.

if you're parroting this talking point, you are doing propaganda for the US military and you just need to stop saying it. here's an article from the Military Times that breaks the finding of various studies like this one from 2020 and this one from 2018 that analyze motivations for joining the military and popular conceptions of motivations for joining the military. Here's a pretty important excerpt:

Further, they hypothesized that some of this possible misconception about poorer Americans joining the military was a geographical issue. While the Defense Department tracks the zip codes of recruits ― and historically, many of them come from more rural areas in the southeast ― it doesn’t track their incomes or their parents’ incomes, which leads to assumptions that the poorer their communities, the poorer the recruits. [...] Using Bureau of Labor Statistics data from 1997 to 2008, they found that the services have recruited primarily from the middle class, America’s largest socio-economic demographic. “We show that recent recruits tend to have higher than average socioeconomic background: they disproportionally come from the middle of the family income, family wealth, and cognitive skill distributions, with both tails under-represented,” they found.

Here's from the army times:

Surveyed troops said these were the top five reasons for staying in the Army. The percentages indicate how many troops felt the factors were “extremely important” to them:
- Opportunity to serve my country — 53.5% - How well my retirement pay or benefits will meet my future needs — 45.1% - Opportunities to lead or train soldiers — 43.5% - My sense of purpose — 38.1% -How well my pay or benefits meet my present needs — 37%

Also mentioned in other sources but here from the NY times in 2020 as well, army enlistment is becoming increasingly skewed towards being the children of people who have previously served.

The main predictors are not based on class or race. Army data show service spread mostly evenly through middle-class and “downscale” groups. Youth unemployment turns out not to be the prime factor.

'Joining the army to lift yourself out of poverty' is not the reality for military service, it is the narrative used by the military in it's marketing and recruitment. if you go around repeating it i hope for your sake you're at least on their payroll! if you're going to bootlick don't do it for free!

Avatar
paradoxius

I think a lot of this misconception also comes from residual ideas about US military service from when there was a draft. In the mid-20th century, there actually was a bias toward poorer people ending up in the military, not because they needed the money or wanted to escape poverty, but because they were less likely able to avoid getting drafted than wealthier people. Lots of anti-war rhetoric in the US during the war with Vietnam talked about poor men sent to fight a rich man's war. In point of fact, one of the motives for the US to switch to an all-volunteer army was to get a military population more likely to be ideologically aligned with the US's imperial interests.

However, like a lot of ideas that emerged as anti-war/establishment/imperialist/capitalist/etc. sentiment during the '60s and '70s in the US, the idea of the poor US soldier who is the victim of injustice got captured by the dominant cultural narrative. With the shift to an all-volunteer army the preponderance of anti-war vets dissipated. Thus the image of the sympathetic poor soldier transformed from a depiction of reality and one of many reasons to oppose imperialistic wars into a myth serving as a tool to cajole people into supporting imperialistic wars.

I think the thing that's been bothering me about the "is it okay to use ChatGPT to plot/make characters/etc" is that at the end of the day, these are not tools that are helping your writing, they are shortcuts that are undercutting it.

These things are supposed to be hard, because you need to learn how to do them.

And listen, I know this sucks. I've got to knock off 4k of words from my current novel to make it more sellable, which seems like a completely arbitrary thing to do, but things like printing costs absolutely do factor into traditional publishing. It took me five drafts to figure out a completely obvious in hindsight plot point that explains why a character does what he does. It takes a few tries to pull together a detailed outline into a workable story, and it always will.

I would have loved to figure this all out way earlier, but I had to learn how to spot the gaps in my writing before I could fix them. Generative AI isn't ever going to bridge the gap between sitting down and learning how to work things out, because if you don't do that, you never will become a more competent writer. If that wasn't part of the point, none of us would be doing this in the first place.

Also not to harp on the obvious, but even if you are okay with using the Plagiarism Machine That Lies And Also Uses Enough Energy To Burn A Small Forest Down as a tool, it's just not... a good one. I've seen the argument that they're like calculators or synthesizers, but both exist to help you become better at something, not replace a skill or talent altogether.

There are loads of free resources that people put out there to help you right. Name/character/plot generators! Plot structures and bulleted outlines! Loads of fantastic advice that is given out openly by people who like writing for people who like writing. As much as we writers whine about doing it, you are genuinely missing out on a self-rewarding and satisfactory journey of creating something that you're proud of doing, even if no one will ever read it. It is worth the effort.

You can do better than the Grift Machine trying to convince you art isn't worth it. Both art - and you - deserve more.

Avatar
elumish

To add on to this point, the act of figuring out your writing makes you a better writer.

The process of building your story builds you a better story. Literally writing the words, whether you type them or speak them or write them by hand, will help you build a better story. Two different sentences will give you two different thoughts--and making the decision of which sentence to write is what building a story looks like.

With GenAI, the intentionality isn't there. It doesn't know why one sentence means something different from a different sentence. It doesn't know which direction you're trying to go in. It doesn't know that you will evoke a different feeling by saying skin than by saying flesh, and so it won't choose one of them versus the other.

It won't choose anything. It's just a very energy-intensive autofill.

The same is true for building characters, for building settings, for building plot. GenAI doesn't know why something is the right answer for your story, to tell the story you want to tell in the way you want to tell it, because it doesn't know anything. It just picks the expected outcome based on what other people have done.

GenAI is just a machine filling in letters in an order that they have been filled in before. It's just averages. It's just likelihood.

If you want to write a good story, you have to sit down and write the story. You have to write the sentences. You have to know why you're writing the words you're writing. You have to make decisions.

And if you don't do it this time, you won't be any better at doing it next time.

So a few months ago there was the discourse about would you rather meet a man or a bear in the woods. I didn't want to touch it while the discourse was hot and everyone dug in hard because those are not good conditions for nuance, but I waited until today, June 1st, for a specific reason.

I'm not going to take a position in the bear vs man debate because I don't think it matters. What is really being asked here is how afraid are you of men? Specifically, unexpected men who are, perhaps, strange.

People have a lot of very real fear of men that comes from a lot of very real places. Back when I was first transitioning in 2015 and 2016, I decided to start presenting as a woman in public even though I did not pass in the slightest.

I live in a red state. I knew other trans women who had been attacked by men, raped by men. I knew I was taking a risk by putting myself out there. I was the only visibly trans person in the area of campus I frequented, and people made sure I never forgot that. Most were harmless enough and the worst I got from them was curious stares. Others were more aggressive, even the occasional threat. I had to avoid public bathrooms, of course, and always be aware of my surroundings.

I know how frightening it is to be alone at night while a pair of men are following behind you and not knowing if they are just going in the same direction or if they want to start something - made all the worse for the constant low level threat I had been living under for over a year by just being visibly trans in a place where many are openly hostile to queer people. You have to remember, this was at the height of the first wave of bathroom law discussions, a lot of people were very angry about trans women in particular. My daily life was terrifying at times. I was never the subject of direct violence, but I knew trans women who had been.

I want you to keep all that in mind.

So man or bear is really the question "how afraid of men are you?", and the question that logically follows is "What if there was a strange man at night in a deserted parking lot?" or "What if you were alone in an elevator with a man?" or "What if you met a strange man in the woman's bathroom?"

My state recently passed an anti trans bathroom bill. The rhetoric they used was about protecting women and children from "strange men", aka trans women.

Conservatives hijack fear for their bigoted agenda.

When I first started presenting as a woman the campus apartment complex was designed for young families. The buildings were in a large square with playgrounds in the center, and there were often children playing. I quickly noticed that when I took my daughter out to play, often several children would immediately stop what they were doing and run back inside. It didn't take me long to confirm that the parents were so afraid of "the strange man who wears skirts" that their children were under strict instructions to literally run away as soon as they saw me.

"How afraid are you of a strange man being near your children?"

I mentioned above that I had to avoid public bathrooms. This was not because of men. It was because of women who were so afraid of random men that they might get violent or call someone like the police to be violent for them if I ever accidentally presented myself in a way that could be interpreted as threatening, when my mere presence could be seen as a threat. If I was in the library studying and I realized that it was just me and one other woman I would get up and leave because she might decide that stranger danger was happening.

Your fear is real. Your fear might even come from lived experiences. None of that prevents the fact that your fear can be violent. Women's fear of men is one of the driving forces of transmisogyny because it is so easy to hijack. And it isn't just trans women. Other trans people experience this, and other queer people too. Racial minorities, homeless people, neurodivergent people, disabled people.

When you uncritically engage with questions like man or bear, when you uncritically validate a culture of reactive fear, you are paving the way for conservatives and bigots to push their agenda. And that is why I waited until pride month. You cannot engage and contribute to the culture of reactive fear without contributing to queerphobia of all varieties. The sensationalist culture of reactive fear is a serious queer issue, and everyone just forgot that for a week as they argued over man or bear. I'm not saying that "man" is the right answer. I am saying that uncritically engaging with such obvious click bait trading on reactive fear is a problem. Everyone fucked up.

It is not a moral failing to experience fear, but it is a moral responsibility to keep a handle on that fear and know how it might harm others.

The terfs are big mad about this post. Normally wouldn't acknowledge it, but one of them said something interesting. Basically, they said that this was denying women their "survival instincts", which I find a very interesting way to put it because survival instincts are about action, not just the feeling of fear.

I want to highlight the core principles of what I actually said:

"Your fear is real. Your fear might even come from lived experiences. None of that prevents the fact that your fear can be violent." "It is not a moral failing to experience fear, but it is a moral responsibility to keep a handle on that fear and know how it might harm others."

That is the core. That is what any decent person should agree to and keep in mind. I never said you should not act on your survival instincts. I actually listed a couple ways I did myself, such as avoiding bathrooms and removing myself from situations where others might perceive me as a threat.

This isn't just a trans woman issue, as I said in the post proper. I came at it from that angle because that is my experience, but this is an issue for a number of groups, practically every marginalized group that exists. The one I had in mind and that has been mentioned several times in the notes of this post is how white women's fear has been weaponized against black men. Really all black people, but since we are talking about fear of men specifically, I'm going to look at it from that angle.

Even if you hate trans women, even if somehow that were the correct position, the two core points still stand. Your fear can be violent, and you have a moral responsibility to be cognizant of that fact. How could your unchecked "survival instincts" hurt a black man? If you are not asking yourself this question then there is a problem.

But radical feminsists are offended by the idea that a woman has a responsibility to not cause harm with their unchecked survival instincts. This is one of the major reasons the original radical feminist movements were so incredibly racist. Sharing a space with a brown woman made them afraid. Kicking out all the brown women was in accordance with their survival instincts.

Now more recent rad fems will claim racial inclusivity and I am sure they believe it, but they still object to the idea that their fear can be harmful and refuse to take responsibility for their actions. That is a racist position because it will cause harm.

I know this is not exactly a revelation, but it is rare to see it so cleanly demonstrated.
