Oh noes, another Destiheller who doesn’t understand the difference between canon/reality and fanon/fiction?
In the future, you should get your facts straight before opening your mouth to prevent from looking like a complete moron again.
To begin with, the even is the Winchester 8th Anniversary Celebration–Winchester, not Wincest. The organizer may have talked about Wincest when she first came up with the idea for the event, but what she’s actually putting together is a celebration of Sam and Dean’s epic bond, whether that is the canon bromance or fanon romance. Thus it’s open to anyone who loves the brothers’ amazing relationship, not just Wincest shippers.
Second, Wincest shippers understand the difference between canon and fanon. We know that Wincest isn’t canon, at least as far as the brothers being romantically or sexually involved with each other. However, it’s also completely canon that Sam and Dean are soulmates who would do anything for each other and who exchanged vows to always put each other first in a church in front of a witness–so this event is firmly based in canon. Because we also understand the difference between fiction and reality however, we aren’t deluding ourselves into believing that this event will somehow make Wincest canon–and the same goes for paid Cameo videos, paid photo ops, translation errors in foreign language dubs, unverified “leaked” scripts, and anything else that didn’t happen in the actual original episodes.
Lastly, none of us have an real issue with Destiew fans writing their own version of the show in fanfic, RPing out their fantasies on social media, or whatever other means they choose to express themselves (even if we find their particular ideas ridiculous)–after all, that’s the whole point of fan content and why there are several million fan works on sites like this, AO3, LJ, etc. Our problem is that you assholes refuse to stay in your lane and instead spew your nonsense in the general tags where the rest of us can’t avoid it, and that you keep insisting that your completely fictional creations somehow magically mean that your completely OOC ship that has zero basis in canon is suddenly “real.” Keep your delusions to yourself, stop harassing everyone else over a fanon ship, and maybe the rest of the fandom won’t despise you so much.
