What do you think about the interview in which sjm is asked whether elain would be heavily featured in the next book? she said she'll be there "in some way" (or smfn along those lines), that made me lose hope :((
Hey! I haven't seen it yet, however I take all this with a grain of salt, she isn't going to reveal protags or key elements like this also she loves to throw people off (ala Eris interviews back over the ACOSF press).

Do you hate gwyn ? Or just her stans? Unfortunately many people have bad image from gwyn because of her crazy stans. I feel bad for it , she is such a good character with good intentions and have very interesting backstory with her family, sister , her issue with merrill etc … I think the hate she receives from the fandom doesn’t make sense , just like all the hate elain receives, it doesn’t make sense -.-

I would agree a lot of her stans have tainted her for a great deal many people from my perspective/experience, which is really unfortunate because as you say she had a good side story and journey throughout Nesta's book. I don't see what there is to really hate her for... (outside of the fandom bs).
I will say, I don't really see great deals of hate about her character on my socials (more about her stans again) but I will fully hold my hands up and say that may just be due to the people I follow/interact with and not a full reflection of the fandom itself.
I second you in saying, neither Elain nor Gwyn deserves any hate they receive, it is really odd. I mean you can dislike whoever you please ofc but there is some really severe things said sometimes which make me so confused given the characters themselves.
I wish it weren't so but I definitely think ships & fandoms have tainted a lot of characters horribly.
Anyways AGREED. I actually have a really cute, Elain & Gwyn art commission that has been in the works a little while, because I fully believe they would actually be good friends if they ever met & no man should turn woman against each other.

This is very interesting when you line it all up, as it isn't something I had connected personally. I think Elain is quite curious about them and I definitely think the first meeting could be nice foreshadowing for her flying/learning too one day, maybe even at Azriel's hands much like Feyre because he too learnt quite a lot later in life.
I am not sure if I think she would pull the same (changing in to a birdlike creature) twice however I do not think her getting wings is so far of a stretch, a lot of us a big proponents of the "Elain should get beautiful feathered angel-like wings" to be fair!
I think ultimately Elain really is such a wild card in terms of her gifts, how they will manifest and what Sarah could do with them. She has been kept relatively under the radar so far :-)
I am excited no matter what it is though!
But what if it's not an Elriel rather a Gwynriel book, would you still read it?
I do not believe even for a fraction of a second it ever will be so it isn’t something I think about deeply but generally speaking if you are asking me probably yes.
I love the series and the characters, and SJM, and while it might take me time to get to it I definitely do not think I would avoid the series forever even if just to skim to the next book… But it is hard to predict the way I might feel years from now if that makes sense?
I saw a Gwynriel say that apparently there were 2 instances where Sarah said that Steph's bd is the bd of Azriel's love interest. I know that she once said it as a joke on a live in March 2021, but this person claims she actually confirmed it a 2nd time. Do you know if this is true?
I do not believe I have seen the second one, however I would take it with the same grain of salt as the first time as I think it was a throw-away comment to appease a friend... She also ain't confirming no ship/endgame like that lmao
But also it isn't really that helpful since outside of Feyres birthday they are really hard to pinpoint and track in the ACOTAR universe because it isn't exactly "dated" like we have but rather by using their holidays which is... still not a accurate science.

I still am absolutely perplexed by the "controversy" like genuinely. Have these people never been in fandoms before? Mermay has existed for an AGE.
Not only in other fandoms but the SJM universe itself, Feysand, Feyre, The BatBoys, and even Quinlar! All of which have no direct ties to mermaids or other aquatic species, it is almost like it is rather common to play around with myths and your favs.
The fact that they are only outraged when it is Elriel just makes them so transparent.
Anyways, it was a stunning work of art and it most definitely deserved licensing and being up for print if you ask me, she did a phenomenal job and it was rewarded <3 And two Elriel prints licensed during Elriel month is wonderful, everyone got to buy a little something from their ship.

Makes me sad to see Elriels on twitter bashing pandyals art for her elucien piece. She’s always remained neutral to the acotar ships, and even listed elriel as one of her fav couples to draw. Saw a twitter post saying that Pandyals was dead to them now because of the elucien art, and it’s just not a good look for us. We don’t need to stoop down to that level, especially after always preaching how we hate people commenting mean things on elriel art
Yeah I think I saw that one person on her Instagram Stories as well, it is sad. I completely agree it isn't necessary or even normal to say someone is dead to them over art. Ultimately though one person doesn't rep us all, and hopefully this person will learn from this that the behaviour was not kind or productive.
One of my biggest pet peeves as you know, is other ships commenting on the others art, so I completely agree. If you feel so strongly just unfollow or block, don't taint other's art on the OG post...
I know the argument has been made several times that the shadows "skittering" away from Elain is not a bad thing but I found this and thought it was worth sharing just to solidify that. Az's own shadows "skittered" from him. Soooo, are they also afraid of him?

Hey! I guess I am quite late to the party which tbh is good because you are right it has been one heck of a reaction, and it's probably for the best I waited. I won't lie to you I had to avoid Twitter for a solid 3-4 days because of the reactions, it was far to much for my tastes.
I have not read the book, (though I have seen bits and pieces) but this is not because of the fandom reaction as I had DNF'd book three way back when it came out because I just struggled so much to get through it and never picked it back up. I didn't even know there was a release until it popped up on my timeline LOL
I was always Pro-Joining as you might know, so I am unbothered by that.
However her writing decreasing, typos etc... is nothing new. So I was shocked by the gravity of peoples reaction. Like I said, I have tried to just avoid it because honestly I don't have the energy to argue over a book I haven't read.

Is she? I honestly cannot say as I haven't seen the piece in question but she has a lot of truly gorgeous pieces of art! She is so amazing and honestly one of the kindest artists I have worked alongside, she was such a joy to collaborate with!
