“I always keep a piece of the past close to my heart. After all he was such a dangerous man that I find myself looking over my shoulder even though he has been dead and dust these last 4 years. There are times a face passes me on the street, missing teeth and nicotine stains and a shifting sardonic smile. Time turns in a twist and its 1967 and I am sitting in the back of his dark green Torino watching the back of his neck turn red over a slip of my occasionally sarcastic tongue. His insanity had to be carefully watched and every nuance and micro facial expression was a clue. There where times I knew his mind before he did and times I didn’t, the best of times and the worst. I have a tendency to keep his memories in an old hatbox with roses on the top of a shelf of a closet deep within my mind. A place for everything and everything in its place and never put all the separate parts back together……. just to be safe. “ Ray Caesar
