I’m always sort of baffled when Luminara Unduli gets held up as the epitome of the Jedi, because, like, why?  There’s nothing wrong with Luminara, she is one of my favorites, I love her dearly and I will defend her with my last breath, especially because so often “she gave up on Barriss” is hurled at her when she specifically said, no she had not given up, but also why is the idea that Luminara is the ultimate Jedi? She’s not held up as being more Jedi-like by other Jedi.  She’s not even on the Jedi Council.  She’s just one of many Jedi, one who tends to be more reserved than others, but like there’s nothing to indicate that she’s the Ideal Jedi Mold. So why hold her up as that?  Why not hold Yoda up as the Ideal Jedi Mold?  Or Plo Koon?  Or Kit Fisto?  Or Mace Windu?  Obi-Wan gets this sometimes, but even he’s just one Jedi out of many.  So why specifically Luminara as what people think the Jedi are all striving towards? (I mean, you know why.)

#dear god do I ever have feelings about this#about how they’re both completely assassinating her character to make her fit this idea of cold and unfeeling#and then declare that she is what all the other Jedi should be or strive to be#and like I’m pretty damn willing to die on the hill of her not being cold because I’ve gone over some of her scenes SO MANY TIMES#she is stern and melancholic but also so warm and she communicates so much#do you guys know how much micro-expression she makes? or how many times it’s obvious that she just wants Anakin to open up to her?#because she can *feel* that something is bothering him but he won’t talk to her or let her help#or how much she just *likes* him#and this is all written on her face#and I haven’t even talked about her entire episode with Ahsoka and the amazing communication going on there#it’s just people that have decided that the Jedi should be cold and then picking a Jedi that has been declared cold by fanon#and saying she’s the ideal#when they’re both getting her actual character wrong and putting her in a place no one in-universe does#to try and paint the entire Order out as compassionless and cold#instead of trying to see Luminara for this wonderful character that she actually is#warm and caring but also melancholic and at times struggling to hope against bad odds#stern but also sweetly sarcastic and capable of being so open about her self-reflection and shortfalls#luminara unduli#tag rambling (via @ilummoss)
