got some new watercolour pencils, testing them out with a screenshot redraw of best girl luminara unduli

[image id: watercolour and watercolour pencil sketch of luminara unduli from star wars: the clone wars. luminara is painted from very close, with her face filling most of the image. she looks slightly to the right over her shoulder, and her green lightsaber is raised over her eyes. she has light yellow-green skin, blue eyes, and black lips, with black diamond pattern tattooed down her chin. her clothing and headwrap are flat black filling the space around her face. /end id]

I’m always sort of baffled when Luminara Unduli gets held up as the epitome of the Jedi, because, like, why?  There’s nothing wrong with Luminara, she is one of my favorites, I love her dearly and I will defend her with my last breath, especially because so often “she gave up on Barriss” is hurled at her when she specifically said, no she had not given up, but also why is the idea that Luminara is the ultimate Jedi? She’s not held up as being more Jedi-like by other Jedi.  She’s not even on the Jedi Council.  She’s just one of many Jedi, one who tends to be more reserved than others, but like there’s nothing to indicate that she’s the Ideal Jedi Mold. So why hold her up as that?  Why not hold Yoda up as the Ideal Jedi Mold?  Or Plo Koon?  Or Kit Fisto?  Or Mace Windu?  Obi-Wan gets this sometimes, but even he’s just one Jedi out of many.  So why specifically Luminara as what people think the Jedi are all striving towards? (I mean, you know why.)
