The fact that Tumblr and YouTube are literally removing certain posts/videos about Ferguson really really says a lot. They are removing videos documenting the riots and the attempts to stop the parade because they don’t want people to know what’s going on. They are trying to keep us in the dark. This is mass censorship and this is not ok. 

You all remember when the staff of this website asked people to blackout their blogs to protest internet censorship…

Tumblr users have always had the option of marking their account as NSFW, and since around 10% of Tumblr is porn, people were generally pretty good at labelling their blogs. 

However, under Tumblr’s new content restrictions, posts from Adult-rated blogs will no longer show up on tags. Any tags. Also, Tumblr is able to flag your account as Adult without you labelling it as such—although users do have the option of appealing to the “Trust & Safety Team” if their feel their blog has been flagged unfairly.

Adult blogs are now unsearchable.

If your blog has been flagged as Adult, nothing you post will ever appear on Tumblr’s public tag searches. Your posts will only be visible to your own followers and the followers of people who reblog your content.

This means that if you want to publicize something like a Kickstarter campaign or political message, or even to signal boost a personal plea for help, that post will still not show up on Tumblr’s internal search engine. You are cut off from everyone except your own circle of followers.

Also, Many Tumblr users are finding that some tags have disappeared entirely from Tumblr’s iPhone app.

It’s unclear whether this is directly linked to the new content restrictions, but for example, iPhone users searching the #gay, #lesbian or #bisexual tags have reported seeing the result “No posts found,” although #bi, #lgbt and #queer still produce results. [READ MORE]

Seit vor einem Jahr unser erster gesponserter Eintrag auf dem Tumblr-Radar erschienen ist, sehen wir mit großer Freude zu, wie unsere Partner Tumblr mit all ihrer Kreativität bereichern. Ihre Einträge wurden bisher über 10 Millionen Mal als Favoriten markiert und gerebloggt.

Ab sofort werden gesponserte Einträge in all euren Dashboards erscheinen. Genau wie in unseren mobilen Apps werden sie sich ganz harmonisch unter die Einträge aus den Blogs mischen, denen ihr folgt.

Interessiert mich nicht. Ich will das nicht auf meinem Dash haben und ich finde es nicht in Ordnung, dass ihr das macht ohne ein Opt-out anzubieten. Was Tumblr sich in letzter Zeit erlaubt, ist ehrlich gesagt der schnellste Weg User zu verlieren. Denkt nicht, ihr wärt so einzigartig, dass ihr euch das einfach erlauben dürft. Das dachte LJ auch mal und wie das für die so läuft solltet ihr eigenlich wissen.

Und eure Kommunikation mit euren Usern ist mal wieder echt bescheiden. Ich weiß, ich weiß. Das interessiert euch alle überhaupt nicht. Aber so kann ein Unternehmen nicht funktionieren. Und ihr wollt doch als solches wahrgenommen werden, oder? Ihr wollt doch eines sein? Davon gehe ich mal aus, da ihr euch ja von Yahoo habt aufkaufen lassen. Dann aber lernt auch einfach mal, dass man seine Kunden vorab von Änderungen in Kenntnis setzt. Man setzt sie nicht einfach um und posted dann Tage später eine Meldung dazu. Noch dazu so eine... umfassend informative wie die hier. Für euch ist das doch alles ein Witz. Für mich persönlich übrigens auch, obwohl ich es schon lange nicht mehr lustig finde.
