when you write a tiny little epilogue thing for that huge story you wrote and then you go, this is 4k now and not done, this is neither tiny nor a snippet, and your friend laughs and says, nope, it totally isn’t, and you go to bang your head agains the wall for awhile because THIS STORY.

you know a story fucked you up when you’re driving to work and already thinking about work but then a Meat Loaf song comes on on the radio and you dial it up and laugh and cackle and sing along like a crazy person.

(dear lord, is it ever.) no, I’m not done with the real story. (nobody ask me about the word count, okay.) in the meantime, have another future snippet. the rest of it is here. all of them are set in the future. if you want to remain unspoiled for the actual story, skip these snippets.

”That was easier than I thought it’d be,“ Mom says quietly, finishing her signature and setting the pen down on the table. At her side, Jamie isn’t looking like anything about this is easy at all, and Tyler twitches a little in place, forcing himself to stay standing off to the side with Chancellor Nandi and her cabinet.

A flash goes off as the court photographer takes yet another picture, and Jamie blinks at it, looking up and yeah, judging from the expression on his face, he not only forgot about the photographer but also the camera team that’s filming right now. And now he’s remembering.

Technically, it’s just them in here to witness Mom resigning and Jamie stepping into power, but it’s a live broadcast, too. Not only their country is watching but the whole world, and Jamie looks about ready to throw up. Tyler feels pretty much the same, but for entirely different reasons.
