hell’s first prisoner was its ruler. and they too dream of going home one day. and they can’t give up that hope. this dream is what gives hell power.

why does lucifer have no counter in episode 4 to morpheus’ “i am hope.”? hope can be crushed, can be taken away. we know this. but in the game they’re playing, the oldest game, one has to fully embrace an idea, with all that comes with it. lucifer can fully embrace the idea of anti-life and all that it entails, but something that defeats hope? that means embodying something that destroys the hope that still resides in lucifer. and even lucifer can’t kill the hope inside herself.
