Thinking about how Siffrin and Loop are functionally immortal in the loops and Loop is still technically stuck with it.

I mean, it's obviously a good thing that they can't just. kill themselves. But after the monotony of their loops it's gotta be really frustrating knowing that even now, they can't find relief in death.

Did they beg Siffrin to kill them because they could control whether or not they wanted to loop now, or were they just that desperate? Do they sometimes forget that they still loop? Have they ever planned a whole thing where they'd attempt, only to be stopped by the Universe in the very moment and curse it for taking away every bit of their autonomy?

I'm only aware of like. one ISAT speedrun and generally am not the person to look into speedrun strats but I keep thinking about how part of getting the dagger option in the game is by bringing it up to Loop as a quicker option when they talk about how tedious it must be for Siffrin to keep trying to look for tears when he wants to loop. Which at first glance comes across as a speedrun option but I feel like the way the dagger works makes it rather useless. Yeah you can loop anytime at any point you want, but the first few times have Siffrin hesitate and ponder over how to most effectively kill himself. and all that is after you have a whole conversation where you pressure Loop into giving you the option to use the dagger. Like not only is it narratively treated as gruesome, but I assume it's not even that great from a speedrun perspective either. anyway the dagger event fucking haunts me

I've only seen snippets of it myself because I. STILL haven't played the game myself but based on what I HAVE seen and what I saw several people say about the lines of dialogue, whenever you try to use the dagger on your party members, Siffrin refuses and gets more distressed until he just kills himself instead. If you try to use the dagger on the party again after that, you get this dialogue.

And I know I'm going off topic here but the fucking "teehee" gets me because like. Honestly everything about the dagger event is just deeply upsetting. It's one of the most explicit instances of Siffrin being suicidal and having self-harm tendencies and Loop is very insistent on telling you not to use it even once you already have access to it. But Sif becomes more and more... desensitized the more you use the dagger to loop in time. And just. that desensitization combined with Siffrin's mania really gets me.
