Hello, I'm alive.
My life turned inside out and upside down in the last several months. It's been a challenge to do creative work, and the time I spend drawing is at an all-time low, but I wanted to share this project since it's crafty and creative in a way I haven't been in a while. I more or less followed these instructions, although if you're going to try this out for yourself I recommend using this type of exacto knife rather than the kind called for in the tutorial--as you cut deeper into the text block, the end of the knife handle will start hitting the top page and will scuff it up.
To say that 2014 was a rough year is an understatement. I feel like I say this every year (and maybe I can be okay with that), but I have such high hopes for 2015. It looks pretty promising at this early point. <3

Some shots of what I have been doing with my snow days. Yesterday we went to our friend Alicia's house to craft together! She's an eighteen-block walk away and it was great to get out of the house and use our muscles, even if we got cold and drippy-nosed. And there's no pictures of it yet, but Emma made vegan grapefruit cupcakes on Monday and Meyer lemon cake yesterday. Having leftover cake for breakfast = pretty much the best. (Stay tuned over at Cheese for Dinner for a post about citrus cakes!)
Today the weather is far less charming. See that photo that looks like an abstract painting? It's one of our bedroom windows, covered in ice from freezing rain which is supposed to be coming down all day. Not cool, Seattle.
