‘Adrian’ Costume Design Sketch for Natacha Rambova’s film ‘What Price Beauty’ in 1925.

Pencil and gouache on illustration board, signed at lower right, ("Adrian"), and inscribed on lower left: "Birthday Greeting / Myrna Loy." The drawing, which depicts a blonde Myrna Loy in a sleek black gown with low gold sash, was executed for the Natacha Rambova-written and produced silent. This was one of the earliest film appearances of Myrna Loy, who played an exotic vamp, and among the earlier films for which Adrian designed costumes. The two would work together again more than a decade later on Wife Vs. Secretary (1936).

2.  A watercolour, ink and pencil concept costume sketch for ‘Salome’ - the design of a blackamoor servant wearing distinctive headdress and cape, signed and dated in black pen N. Rambova, 1921.
