Wake up and smell the hostile vibes

She’s a crazy little rowboat adrift in a vast sea of insanity. Low key living adulthood like some unraveling mystery.

GHOST OF THORNTON HALL FANCAST
ND #28

Clara Thornton - Gillian Anderson

Jessalyn Thornton - Nina Dobrev

Wade Thornton - Michael Huisman

Harper Thornton - Helena Bonham Carter

Colton Birchfield - Dan Stevens

I wanted to be her when I grew up. But then one day I was older than my older sister - and older still today.

The bad endings lay all causalities at Nancy's feet but what were Wade and Colton doing while the finale fire was happening? They didn’t know for sure Harper and Jessalyn were even around, but they definitely knew Clara was still in the building. Why didn’t THEY go save her?

Well what’s weird is, if you don’t help Jessalyn and Harper, it’s Wade and Colton who aren’t found. Somehow Jessalyn and Harper both make it out and to the hospital. I’m guessing that Her did it this way because Jessalyn and Harper are necessary for even a modicum of closure in the ending but… it still makes no sense.

So I guess they went into the house just before the fire started? Maybe they’re completely oblivious to the fire unless they see Nancy and Jessalyn evacuating Harper in a wheelbarrow so they don’t know to help anyone lmao.

But yeah telling kids to play hero during a fire is definitely a bad message since it’s exactly what you’re not supposed to do and idk why Nancy who they’ve known for three days is expected to save these people she has no emotional connection to. Would’ve been better if they saved each other amongst themselves, as an act of forgiveness and family but alas. Of course it has to be Nancy; we wouldn’t see it otherwise!

Seriously this game makes no sense

I asked one of my friends (an electrical engineer) for her thoughts on this, and she has yet to respond. Still holding out for her thoughts.

this does work, lemon or citrus fruit batteries can produce electricity.  these specific materials allow for a chemical redox reaction to occur, just like in standard batteries. placing the oranges in series with the alligator leads increases the voltage to be in an acceptable range for phone charging.

I just started replaying Ghost of Thornton Hall. When Savannah calls at the beginning, Nancy asks what time it is. I made a joke to my sister that Nancy didn’t know what time it was because her phone didn’t have a clock.

Since Nancy has had a clock on her phone prior to this, it was originally just a goofy comment because the time didn’t appear on the screen like it does on real phones (even during calls).

However it turns out she really doesn’t have a clock in this game.

No time, no alarm. Nothing

It’s also impossible to tell the time of day since it’s always dark. Nancy occasionally sleeps but that’s more attributed to potential carbon monoxide poisoning than circadian rhythms.

Time means nothing in this game, a complete illusion. It’s especially disconcerting since the game comes immediately after The Deadly Device when Gray shares that the thing that caused him to wig out a bit many years prior was exactly this. He tells Nancy “Time is an illusion. It’s nothing, it doesn’t exist.” Turns out he’s right.

It is certainly interesting to contemplate as part of the setting of the game, this manufactured disorientation you don’t even register until you do. It’s a relatively small detail but very effective in adding to both the spooky vibe and the carbon monoxide poisoning story. Whether intentionally done or not, as a writer I appreciate that it adds to the ambiance.

Time is an illusion (and so are pants).

The way Nancy treats Wade is so weird from the get go.

Like she tells him “that’s pretty philosophical for a guy wearing boots” and “you don’t look the type [to go into a bookstore]” with zero reason to make those assumptions. She’s literally just met this dude and knows nothing about him but keeps telling him to his face she thinks he’s an idiot?

Does Nancy just assume all southerners are idiots? Just all southern men? Why doesn’t she call Colton an idiot then? Wade is nothing but helpful and even tells her some incredibly personal information he was under no obligation to share?

His character is really one of the more interesting ones, an only child raised around his female cousins (all incredibly dramatic in their own right). He has an interest in genealogy, history, and ghosts while maintaining respect for the dead in a way a lot of ghost hunters don’t. He has a lot of respect for the living as well, even going to jail in an effort to end some pretty shady human rights violations perpetrated by his family (or at the very least his family’s representatives).

Then he says stuff like this that makes me question how the game could get an E10+ rating:

Just a little casual joke about Depression era bankers killing themselves, nbd. Kids don’t know what Black Tuesday was right? It’s fine.

All in all an interesting character I wish we learned more about.

YES OP Wade, unappreciated character.
