“Zelda,” Link said with a chuckle, looking from his travel partner to the cooking pot and back to her. “Can I have my hand back? Our dinner is burning.”
His arms were crossed terribly awkwardly and although her soft lips on his fingers were almost worth the discomfort, he made his request nonetheless.
“Alright,” Zelda said, withdrawing the expression of her unabashed love. Link returned his now free hand to the ladle and yet he couldn’t keep his gaze off of how the light of the fire made Zelda glow.
“How are you so beautiful?” He asked.
Zelda blushed.
“Am I?” She said coyly, a daring glint in her green eyes.
His gaze softened further, melted as if prompted by the fire, his blue eyes deep in love.
“Immensely,” he said softly.
She couldn’t help but look away with a smile, as her unusually talkative knight continued with his work.
Zelda always admired the way he took care of them. Whether it be displaying his abundance of courage and rescuing her from coming threats, or simple things such as wrapping her in warm blankets at night and making their favorite food.
Her green eyes reflected that of her precious hero’s as she stared at his face, warm from the glow of the fire, irises deep in happiness and attachment.
“I think you’re beautiful too.” She said in a voice just barely above a whisper.
He looked back at her, eyes soft and a small smile which typifies his inner feelings of fluster and love. He couldn’t stop himself from switching the ladle from his left hand to his right, an attempt to grasp his princess’ more easily than before.
She moved closer to him, ignoring the eerie darkness which surrounds them, feeling safe in the presence of Link. If five simple words can brighten his mood, she thought, then just imagine what—
Link’s heart must have skipped a beat once he felt Zelda’s lips press a serene kiss on his cheek. Everything, from the touch of her skin on his own to the irresistible smell of flowers on her neck, made him fall more in love by the day.
“Thank you, my princess.”
