Once upon a time there was a newt, alone and bereft of purpose; born with a hole in the heart nothing could fill. The cries of the creature were answered by a fairy godmother.
The loathesome thing made a wish. To be allowed to fulfill its purpose and find its people. And with a wave of a wand, the newt wore a new form, and with a tap of her toes she was whisked away to the kingdom of Argive.
All the fairy godmother took in exchange was a small token, a trinket really. A compass drawn from out behind her freshly sculpted ear.
Oh but what an important compass it was indeed, without it the newt-turned-girl found she couldn't tell right from wrong; or at the very least her right and her wrong. She was given a name, and plied a variety of professions; But be it attendant , baker or butcher, cantor or clothesmaid, dentist or doctor, farmhand, fishmonger, or fool, not one served her purpose. Without a Moral Compass, all she could do was try to fit in, do as others did, and do what she was told. She learned to keep certain parts of herself secret, though again for what reason she wasn't sure. And she got herself a name.
She would in time travel out towards Urborg to seek the Father's Tomb. Far from what could broadly be called home she ran into someone with an offer. Attend a carnival and help others find their lost things, and in turn get help finding her lost thing in return.
And so Decima sets out with a group of other travelers into the Wild Beyond the Witchlight.
My character for a D&D game I'm in. A Phyrexian Shifter Barbarian, named Decima Aligheiri. Even made a miniature for her as well, some more 3D Modeling and Printing practice. . A real sweetheart that could really wreck shop with some stupendous strength and nightmarish hidden gadgets. The way I've sold her to the GM was basically "Cronenberg Disney Princess". So the singing to the tweeteling birds only for them to turn all biomechanical. Initially thought going Bard, but there were a ton of casters. But maybe later with multiclassing.
